Tightening piece for pipes

I'm getting a rattling sound from the exhaust pipes at around 2500 RPM, its been there since I first got the bike.
Previous owner said that it could be the "inside pipes" that are loose (I'm driving a '85 1100), but I've heard of guys using a piece that goes in between the holder and gasket, hooks onto the exhaust pipe holders and "pulls it back" when it goes loose when hot or starts to go shakey.
I have no idea of what this might be, but I figured some of the riders in the group might know better...

Otherwise totally enjoying the ride...

Thanks!

Just an update:
It does seem like it is the inner pipes that have fatigue cracks in them.

I found this at the "FJ Lore" site:

QuoteQuick synopsis--my FJ1100 (bought new the
day they came out in '84) recently started making very
undesirable engine noises.  THe local dealer said it sounded
like connecting rod/piston pin problems, volunteered to
tear it down to check for a mere $1000 labor, any parts
would be extra.  I tore it down, EVERYTHING was in limits!

Put it back together with new rings--ok for another 1,000
miles--then the same trouble returned.  Tore it down again,
it did sound a lot like a piston slap to me, so replace
the pistons and rings. OK for 1,200 miles--then trouble
again returns. This time MUCH worse and more than one
cylinder!  I had used a stethescope to isolate the trouble,
the loudest was one of the exhaust headers.  The trouble
turned out to be the header itself--3 of the 4 had radial
fatigue cracks in the inner tube (dual tube construction)
where it was welded to the outer tube near the cylinder
head.  This occured at about 35,000 miles.  Have since
found 4 other FJ1100's with the same problem.  FJ1200 have
single tube headers--I used FJ1200 headers and everything
is fine.  One of the other guys installed the super trap
system to solve his problem.  You could probably go
indefinitely with the caracked headers, but it could mask
serious engine problems should the occur.  All of the bikes
so far had 35,000 to 40,000 miles on them when the problem
started.  Mine is ridden very hard, someone who rode at
a more relaxed pace may get more mileage.

Next step then would be to get a hold of a well-kept set of FJ1200-pipes, then maybe my rattling will be a thing of the past...  :scratch_one-s_head:

The 1200 series header pipes are Stainless-Steel too - with a little elbo grease they shine like chrome.  Something will come along sooner or later, at least you know it isn't major.
