Actually, it was 655 miles, but who's counting?
This morning, my oldest son and myself took off on an adventure.
It started at 0630, 34 degrees. That's dark and pretty damn cold to start a trip like this.
We headed out to pick up a buddy of mine with the ZX14.
From there, we headed into Minnesota to jump on I90 and headed west to Sioux Falls S.D.
We made Sioux Falls by 1130, temps had improved and the winds were mild and the skies were sunny.
We then made our way south on I29 to Vermillion SD, continued west until we crossed the Missouri River into Nebraska, then head back SE towards Sioux City Iowa.
From there we headed NE to Sheldon Iowa to pick up Highway 18, which leads us straight back home.
We got back home after a stop for supper, at 1945, dark and cold, just like we started the day!

To report on this trip, I have this to say, the roads were staight and boring and we were totally shot by the time we got back home, but we had been wanting to head out this way to see for ourselves if there were any good roads to ride, and the answer was NO!

All was not lost though, we still enjoyed the day and each other, for what it was worth.
We will keep going to the Mississippi from now on! LOL!

Do my eyes decieve me or is the back tyre on that zx14 very worn? Enlarged the image and looks like just dirt
Life behind bars - is actually quite thrilling

Yes, the back tire is very worn out. Absolutely time for a new tire on this bike. :bomb:

You guys are right, he was concerned that he'd have enough left to complete the trip.
That is his 3 Shinko he has worn through.
In that same picture, my sons Hondas rear tire had rolled up balls of rubber on it just from going down the highway.
They must put a pretty soft compound tire on them bikes.
All of our tires were showing a sign of be squared off from all the straight line riding.

Those roads probably weren't that bad, you're just spoiled now like rest of us.  Hate to break it to you but it's a chronic condition.

No doubt Dan.
It's all I think about!
If the rally in Colorado for next year falls through for some reason, I WILL be back in Tellico Plains nexts fall, and I plan on bringing my kid and his Repsol!
He will have the time of his life!
