Harri Kari.......is the act of impaling ones self with a ceremonial Samaria sword..........seems when I bought my Penske racing shock I didn't read the label..........500 lbs was not a strong enough spring for the Beast......so  Pat (Felix of the CIA) has suggested that I poke around and confirm what spring weight everyone is using.......(1000-1200 lb coil springs ?).....and don't be shy.........laugh it up.....I feel like an idiot  :wacko2: !!!!!!!! Pat is also thinking I will need to re valve the shock with the doubling of the spring weight. The model I bought was the 8983........thx....

Penske Sport Shock  8900 series. http://www.traxxion.com/penskesportshock.aspx

1200 lb spring.

I'm 180lbs and filled out the Traxxion Dynamics information form for a having a 125 lb passenger about 20% of the time and about 10lbs average saddle bag weight.  Intended use: Commuting and touring.

Mark, is that what you are saying?

You can go from a 500lb spring to a 1200lb spring and not have to worry about re-valving the Penske shock?  I missed that...

I am on a spring swapping deal right now with Penske- I send back the spring that is too light and they send me the next one up....  I am at 1200lbs now and waiting to receive  a 1400lb spring.  I am going to a higher rate spring to accommodate my modified R1 rear end.

You should call them- tell them you bought a shock and the spring is too light and request a swap for a higher rated spring.....

It depends what year FJ you have, The 1100's have smaller springs. I put a 900lb spring on and it is perfect.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

I am calling them this morning .......I will ask them what I should do.......I will follow up and let you know what they said .

Nope, I missed that connection too.

I was just answering the request below and included the other information to show what data Traxxion Dynamics used to come up with designing my shock with a 1200lb spring.  I'd be surprised if it didn't need to be re-valved.  I'd be nice though...
