New Bike NewB question - FJ1200

I recently got a 86 FJ1200 (VIN says 12/85, that means it's and 86 production right?) It sat for 2 years but runs. 

It has a Vance & Hines 4to1 system on it and i was just wondering if the drain plug was right above the join?

Part 22 to drain the oil, sounds like your 4/1 is blocking it, common problem for most of them. You can drain the oil from other plugs but I cannot offer which one. Others should pipe in and help out.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

You can use the left oil cooler line. With the FJ on the side stand you will get more oil out of it than the deain plug. Part 33 is a gally plug.

So that's the line that connects in the bottom right of this one, with bolt#10?

Yes sir that is it. With that you get the pan and everything but but a frw drops  left in the oil cooler system

        I went for the more difficult solution. Remove oil pan, spotface the left rear corner of the oil pan and drill through the center of the spotface. Machine an aluminum bung the same diameter as the spotface, thread internaly and weld to the oil pan. I used a .750 spotface and bung, internaly threade for 1/4 npt. More work initialy but makes oil changes a breeze.   Hein.

Yep, that's what I do on my '92 with the Croaker (Kerker). Remove the left side oil line fitting.....Thanks to the folks on this forum for this tip.(TCee?)

To make it easier, I changed out the oem allen head bolts (part#10) to some 10mm hex heads. It's is easier to get in there with a slimmer ratcheting end wrench, rather than trying to line up the longer Allen socket....

Also, when removing and reinstalling this fitting for oil changes... this will eventually wear out the O ring, (#6) so buy a half dozen or so to keep on hand... and change them on every 4th oil change. Try as I may, being as careful as I can, have found that they start leaking after the 4th oil change....or so...

well i have to take my whole exhaust system off and yes i remove my slave cylinder to remove filter housing. i cracked one housing :dash2: hahahah had to buy a new oem 85.00 until randy has adapters again.

If you have not installed it yet, send it back. I have a new ones removed from new engine(s) I buy. Shoot me an email.

I will confirming with the machine shop on Monday morning. He told me last week he was going to have them ready to ship on the 1st or 2nd which will put them in my hands Monday the 5th.
