Any Chance of maybe having a Mid West fj Ralley?

mikeholzer

Only if you or I organize it. Or Leon; he lives in Iowa.

Tim and I are in the Midwest...

Ride Illinois - 11 curves in 318 miles.

Could argue the Ozarks are in the midwest.  There's a couple of good river roads as well, and southwest Wisconsin is often a good time.  Figure from Chicago, say, you're looking at an easy 8 hour run to get into the really interesting stuff, but that's a day's easy ride.

andyb, It's kinda funny to think back growing up in SW Missouri, we always considered ourselves to be Midwesterners. Drive 1 hour south into Arkansas, no one here thinks of them selves as anything but a Southerner.  I guess you have to draw a line somewhere....

Interesting idea, but where in the hell are the cool roads?
I must be in the center of the most boring roads for 3 hours ride in any direction.
Thats why I'm planning on the Tellico Rally next month.

Where you located,  wlwjgpld ?

So count me in if we can get something off the ground, I'll be all for it!

You know if you guys all got together, we could have one hell of a group ride into Tellico or Boone.

There's some hella good roads on the way to either one 'specially Boone...

Just over the big river dead east of you is a really enjoyable area to play in.  :)  About 2 hours each direction, not terrible!

I've rode the river roads over there and they are some of the best in this area.
I'm just saying on a daily basis, where I live, is terribly boring.
You have to put a few miles on just to get to the good roads.

It's only about 500 miles from the Ill/Ia line to SE Ohio.  Many good roads, many state parks with group camping areas.  SR 555 from the river to Zanesville will wear you out.  Don't know if OH is considered mid west (and I've lived here all my life), but if something is lined up further west, I'd be interested in attending.  Was actually considering taking in the AMCA flat track races in Davenport, IA on 9/2 then going up to Anamosa to visit the MC museum on Sat.
Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

The trip to the museum in Anamosa is well worth the ride, in and of itself.
I have considered loaning my 1960 Triumph TR-7A to them, as their Triumph collection isn't all that big.

Here's a standing offer:  anybody wants to check out the riding in OH can camp at my place - two-acre yard (room for many tents), fire pit, grill, hot tub, and a couple excellent breakfast buffets nearby.  Also, 24 x 42 garage with room for many bikes after I remove the cars, MC lift and tools if needed.  The good riding starts two miles down the road.  Or if you'd rather camp closer to the REAL GOOD roads, could meet at a state park campground.  Would be less than 10 bucks a night with two tents on a site and they're nearly vacant after labor day.  I have one riding buddy with an FJ that I get to ride with a couple times a year and his bike got trashed at Vintage MC Days by a kid riding a wheelie on a pit bike.  I've put 15k miles on my 89 since I bought it in Apr '10, all in OH, 95% by myself and the daily ride to work is only 5 miles round trip.  Nothing I'd like better than to look in my rear view and see a string of FJ's whipping through the hills of SE OH.  Who knows - maybe it could turn into an annual thing that could be called a "rally".  Bring it on, dudes!  I'm serious.
