Sure would LOVE to do this.  I'd have to rent a bike, and get plane tickets.  Please keep me in the info loop.

Dan

Dan, rent a bike? Maybe not.

I have a 2nd FJ, a very nice rubber mounted '92, and if my buddy Paul Lawson can't make the trip, you are welcome to use it.
Ask Henry Russell, he rode it the last time we went to Gunnison.

Pat

Fast enough to pass a Police Truck...

If this comes together, I'm sure there will be a number of east coast folks making the trip.  I would imagine finding a few people to trailer over with and back wouldn't be an issue.  Similar to what Marsh, Klavdy and Pat did for their trip to the east coast rallies.

I've been able to squeeze three bikes on my trailer, and my SUV (Honda Pilot) tows it well.  If we had multiple drivers, maybe we could make it out to CO in what 30 hours?

Huh, this could be an adventure...

That is awfully generous of you Pat!  You rock.

Love this list!!

-as you have likely read, there is another, somewhat crazy idea afoot about making the drive out, that's a possibility too.  Please keep me posted on Paul's intentions.

All things being equal, I *would* rather be on my own machine.  But... beggars, very often, can not be choosers.

Thanks,

Dan

Count me in.
I know Dan and I would have a lot to talk about! LOL!

All in good fun!

I'm up for whatever accommodations that will be discussed.

I lived in CO for 5 years.  Had the FJ for the last 2.  I know some really sweet rides on the front range.  Although I never did take the FJ too far west, not any further west than Vail, I have driven a cage throughout the state, I know it pretty darn well.

Consider incorporating natural hot springs.  There are some great ones and they are plentiful further west and throughout the southern range.  Many are unspoiled and natural, (not the "oatmeal pits" Klavdy fears...)

I love those sort of hot springs, it's the grotty hotel ones that I find loathsome.

I spent last weekend in Durango, CO (I went to college and lived there for about 7 years - 14 years if you count a 20 mile radius) and went to Orvis Hot Springs about 7 miles outside of Ouray.  It is clothing optional.  Cool place at night...

I also took a glider ride - making a video of it now.

I'd be game for another CO rally.

Me too, would love to get out to Ouray area.. would rather have my own bike though.   If we could find a few east coast takers, a tow vehicle and trailer we could iron man it out there.   Something to think about..

Dan,
Frank and I towed out from Roanoke to Denver in 28 hours. It would be an epic adventure, I bet we could get a good size trailer and a few riders willing to make the run..

Somewhere along the line, I'm gonna be looking for a trailer space...

Rightyo then, looks like a fair bit of interest is being shown in a Colorado Rally.
There's a couple of ways to do this, one is by asking, one is by telling.
Last time a do was attempted through asking, it just didn't happen.
This proposed Colorado run needs to be timed for after the next West Coast Rally, it's easy enough to find a good place to have it but there needs to be a cut off date for those who intend on going, a date that they have to confirm and pay up by.
It'll be somewhere in the Gunnison, Montrose , Ouray triangle, some fantastic roads around there.

I would love a Colorado Rally - close to Durango - Silverton -  Million Dollar Hwy -- Maybe extend the trip and include a rail ride on the narrow gauge -- up to Silverton

Are y'all up for doing it again?  Maybe I'll wait on this and not just photo-shop my bike into your avatar..

I'm serious, if I can find some co-pilots I will do it.

I'd be willing to go if we had some driving help. Oh yea do you still have that big ass trailer??? and what can we tow it with???
But Yea,,, I'd like to get back out to Co. again
