  ok im about as excited as a virgin at a cat house for this one. so, other then it was cheap what was the reason or the deciding factors that made you chose the fj and is it your work horse? if not what is? and why?

For all my years of riding prior to owning an FJ, I was of the old school 70s Jap cruiser mind set.
You know, Honda Customs, Yamaha Specials, Kawasaki LTD, and Suzuki "L"s.
All large CC, inline 4 cylinder bikes with the stepped seat, it was the style I was into!
It also explains why I still have my 1982 GS1100L Suzuki.
So knowing that, you can see I never gave much else a second look, and the sporty bikes never appealed to me.....that is, until I took notice of the first FJ that caught my eye.
From that point on, I just knew I had to have one of my own, but with family and kids, the purchase took 22 years to become a reality.

To bad for me that it had to take so long in coming, but now that I'm an owner, I can tell you it was well worth the wait!

well it fits my riding style and can be a two up rider and is very reliable.

it has enough power to get the job done and I don't mind the weight cause I like that sturdy feel.

No, that's 100% it. The $/HP ratio put it far beyond any other bike. And it is reliable. And a looker. And comfortable at speed. And goes like hell 2 up. And has a creepily cultish following with savant recall of it's inner workings. And passes cars like a motherfucker without downshifting. As long as it's not snowing too hard it goes wherever I want.

I bought my FJ new in '84 'cause it was the best fucking bike made in 1984.  The rest is just icing on the cake.

I needed a bike to go to Tennassee (daughter had a baby boy) and I had a few $$ in my pocket searched ebay and craigslist for something to take the trip and the 85 FJ jumped out at me saying buy me.
Had a couple of goldwings and some older liter size bikes as possible's but the 85 FJ1100 had me.Got my licence next day it didnt rain and made the trip to Tenn and back.I even sold one of my GP1200 (Yamaha)waverunners to buy another FJ.
Great therapy for me right now to jump on one of the bikes and take a ride.
Had a lot of work to do to both of them to get them running right but when there dialed in they rock.
Only thing that I dont like is all the mechanical noises the engine makes with no waterjackets to muffle the sound.
I have 2 FJ's and a parts bike dont know what I would do if I had even 1 more hard enough to decide which one to ride as it is.
I like FJ'S.

It was the top of the heap in '85 and I liked the styling more than the VMax that was sitting next to it.

26 years later, it's still the best bike I own.

Went riding with my local group today.  The guy on the new CB1000R was glued to my rear end, but we were leaving the 1198 DUC the dust in the twisty bits.

I think I like my new 17 inch rear wheel/tire!

Back in '93 I was looking for a new bike I was seriously considering a Kawasaki Zypher 1100. After spending some time at the Kawasaki dealer, I then went over to the Yamaha dealer and saw a new '90 FJ that had been sitting on the show room floor. The price was right as he wanted to move the thing out of there. After sitting on it, I knew I wanted it. I made the right choice.
