It hurt just to type the words.

Must I relive the shame over and over again.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

You must have big balls to say that. What hapened did you run out of gas or was it a drag bike.

Why the shame? It's Not uncommon at all. In fact it's Physics 101.  Torque + traction + weight = winner
A big block SS motor Harley putting out 110-120 ft.lbs of torque with fat rubber in the back, will smoke most all bikes 0 to 80.

Now me bucko, if you told me the Harley passed your FJ at 130, that would be surprising.

No, I came up on him pretty quick. He was behind a car waiting for a clear spot to pass.
When we crested the hill he pulled out, and I decided to pass him and the car.
I down shifted my usual 2 gears and let the FJ music begin.

only to see the Harley pull me.........one bike length....................two bike...............three bike.............

I had to salvage what little ego I had left and blow by him in the corner while I was hitting triple digits and climbing.

But still the damage was already done..................................

Travis,
It might be a little consolation, but the only Harleys that I know of that run like the one you described have several buckets of money poured into them. But Pat's right, a big v-twin can be very quick out of the hole, with a willing and able rider.

Really?  Because big, high dollar harleys at the track typically are soggy slow off the line.  All that torque isn't good for much if you have to run long gearing; they end up with less power actually at the ground.  Nevermind the weight.

I don't know Pat, I have had my run-in with an S/S powered Indian some years ago with my 1982 GS1100L Suzuki, and all he saw from a 20 MPH rolling start to 135 MPH, was my tail light.
He was so shocked after a mile blast, he rolled up to me at a stop sign and said, " Nobody has ever done that to me, before!"
Now, I know my FJ will flat out run my Suzuki, so if a v-twin cruiser is going to out run me, it better have several buckets of cash pour into it just to keep up, let alone, pass me.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are fast HDs out there, but not that common, at least in my area.
I also don't instigate such times, which there has been 3 separate occasions.
Each time it was brought on by the testosterone filled HD rider, and each time he has the same look of shock from being beat, and beat easily all while on my Suzuki.

I have to admit, the ol girl runs pretty good for what she is.
Funny thing is, my FJ never gets the same challenges...I wonder why?

I think it's the Kawasaki rear wheel. Plus ya only got that little 1100 to turn it.

are you sure you were twisting the throttle wide open ?

KOokaloo!

I think my 1100 would pull my 1200 from 0-100 mph.
Just sayin.
I spanked a big loud Harley on my 1200 today though i think he was S&S powered but not sure.
A good tuned 1100 vs a good tuned 1200 should go to the better rider so it wouldnt be because you were on a little old 1100.
