Thinking about ordering a set for an 84/FJ1100 , wondering if anyone here owns them and what they think of them?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, I have been looking into this as well. There are quite a few guys with these fitted on the FJ and all and sundry think they are great. The only thing that made me wait a bit was that there is a bit of modding to do to the damper rod for it to work. Randy has designed a new type that is a drop in, and he has them being tested at the moment. Just waiting for him to wave the "on sale" flag, and I'll be buying a set to go with the new racetech constant rate springs.
Do a search of the site on emulators, there are heaps of threads that talk about them.

Cheers, Dazza

I recently put a set of R-T Emulators and some straight rate springs into my FJ.  They are great.
The Damper Rod modification is very easy, just drill some 8mm (5/16") holes in the damper rod and deburr them.  For your early bike, you'll also have to cut the adjustor controls, but the emulators replace that in practice anyhow.

At this point, I'd wait to see/hear what Randy's cartridge emulators are like before getting the R-T units.
I'd be very surprised if you weren't happy with the change.

Cheers,
Arnie

My experience is that the option is to give someone else a lot more of your money than Randy asks, wait longer for delivery, and not get any help or instruction for the extra.  Your choice :-)

+1 to Arnie, so far Randy has been very helpful and I don't expect problems with delivery going on what the rest of the guys on this site have said   :good2:

Arnie, do you a have photo of the damper rod with the new bigger holes drilled in it? Just want to be sure I do it right first time.

Cheers, Dazza

Dazza, I don't want to step on Arnie's toes, but there's a good picture about half way through this write up in the files section:  http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=1911.0

My toes are sturdy :-)  No problem providing information and pictures that I don't have anyhow.
Whole idea (IMO) of this board is to share information.

Cheers,
Arnie
