New Star Trek flick...

Sooo... anyone looking forward to seeing it this weekend?

I know I am.  But then I'm a geek.   

Looks to be a good reboot of the franchise.  From what I have read on interviews with Leonard Nimoy he's very impressed with the fresh start.

The Mrs. and I plan to see it on Friday night. It looks pretty good, but then I thought that the show "Enterprise" had potential early on, too. What a turd that thing turned out to be.

Still, I won't know until I try it.

Actually I'm curious to hear what you think of the movie, but with out any information as to what goes on.

relax garth , I will not spoil the movie for you.

my opinion of the new star trek movie is as follows "DOOD THAT WAS AWESOME"

everyone will enjoy this flick, you don't have to be a trek head, go and see it.

since I was at a special screening the paramount guy was there and taking comments and opinions.
according to him they will be making 3 more movies with the same actors under contract.

someone from the original series is in the movie.

so there ya go.

I've heard nothing but good things about the movie.  Can't wait to see it. 

I read an article several weeks ago where there was a showing of "The Wrath Of Khan" at a theater in Texas.  Nimoy made a surprise visit to say hello to the die hard fans.  Little did they know that he had arranged with Paramount to give a specal showing of the new movie.

That would be a cool surprise.

Saw the new movie tonight with the Mrs. We both thought it was really good. Zachary Quinto is a very believeable Spock, although I keep seeing him as Sylar... And a 10 year old Kirk destroying a 63-67 Corvette just for grins? Well, maybe.

Still, an interesting premise to begin a new series of films which won't be entirely constrained to Roddenberry's original storyline. I do like how they managed to introduce the associations with all of the main characters (Kirk, Spock, Sulu, Checkov, Mr. Scott, Bones, Uhura...)

And WTF is up with Uhura? If you've seen it, you know what I'm asking...

I just got back from a sold out IMAX screening...loved it!  Awesome!  Even my wife really enjoyed it...who knows nothing about star trek.

I wouldn't have anyway. I much prefer the rebellion against fascist regime depicted in star wars to the universal communism of star trek.

I stand corrected, there were a couple of inconsequential 'red shirts' left over...  But that again is consistent with Shakespearean tragedy...

Saw it at IMAX Thursday in Nashville TN good film. Skylar as Spock did a good job.
