Dazza ....... acouple of places you can try:

http://www.motorcycleracegear.com.au/Motorcycle-Accessories/Brakes/18.html
http://www.motospares.com.au/categories/BRAKE-LINES/HEL-PERFORMANCE-BRAKE-LINES/YAMAHA/
http://www.emtekracing.com.au/hel/69-hel-braided-brake-line-kits.html

Kits are available for the FJ.
Another option is to go to Pirtek, or Enzed, and have them make you a set. They will just need the length and what orientation is required for the fittings.

Thanks Harvy. BTW, being from the warmer climes, what oil do you run. All the info on this site seems to talk about american oils. Where I live it is regularly high 30s to low 40s for about 6 months of the year. It also makes me think I might need an bigger oil cooler. But lets start with a good oil first.

Cheers, Dazza

Don't really want to start a new oil thread/debate as there are lots of those already. :-/

I've been using Valvolene 20W-50 SF or SG year round for the last 90,000 kms (of 130K) and 13years.
No oil related problems at all.  I change oil every 5K and replace filter at alternate changes.

However, I'm changing to CH-4 diesel oil 15W-40 at the next change so that I can standardize on one oil for all my vehicles and because it (supposedly) has more protective additives than car oil.

A larger oil cooler couldn't hurt, but I'm still using the OEM cooler.

Cheers,
Arnie

As long as using this CH-4, does not cause any clutch slippage.  Those "protective additives" can sometimes have that effect.  I like the idea of one oil for all my machines though.

I've used Shell Rotella 4T Dino diesel oil with no problems as it doesn't have friction modifiers, no problems with wet clutch at all; has a big following with the V65 club as well.  $21.99 at Walmart for 4 litres isn't bad either!

I have been using Shell Rimula 3X 15W-40 diesel engine oil in both of my 1200 Kawasakis, without any detrimental effect.  In fact, I find gear shifting much smoother.  No clutch slippage whatsoever, and those motors have a lot of grunt.

bit different, have just started using it ( as it was cheaper than the shell 15 wieght i ahd been using...) but the yamalube 15 wieght is nice.... box feels good, still gets a bit hot tho.... just my 20c

I talked to the Enzed guy that lives near my place. He didn't give me an exact quote, but said it was an easy job (would be for someone who deals with s/s braided lines all day) and wouldn't take him long to make up. IMO it may cost a little more than searching around for lines that fit, but it is a hell of a lot easier, faster and with the local cops pulling bikes at the moment for "fine tooth comb" inspections, guaranteed to meet or exceed Australian Standards.
I need to replace the forks, rotors, master cylinders, calipers and lines on my 88 FJ and that will be the option I take. One less headache. At least my old clunker will stop then....boots starting to wear out from all the dragging on the ground at the moment.

Just my two pence.

Thanks everyone for the info. Ended up ordering Spiegler set. Will match the bar riser kit I got from them as well. Still haven't fitted it . . . too many projects  :dash2:

I assume you are going to fit these to the OEM brakes?
If ever you upgrade to blue-dot R1 brakes or similar, the fitting won't align properly.

Thanks Bill, I'll climb that hill when I get to it. It will do me for now. Taking my gixxer wheel and front yam wheel down to Perth in a couple of weeks to get powder coated. Penske shock and constant rate springs and emulators are on their way. Got the nice integrated rear tail/indicator light from Randy and will be cutting back the rear fender to try to tidy it up a bit. Should look nice with the fat rear tyre. Then I'll be fitting the bar risers, braided lines and fork springs. Got an extra clutch plate to fit at some point, not looking forward to that one. Only slips a bit when two up, solo doesn't seem to be a problem.
Looking forward to see how it all ties together and how she handles. Next on the wish list is a bigger cooler and oil temp gauge.

If you're just removing the spring and replacing the thin friction plate with a full size plate, it is very easy to do.  You don't even need to drain the oil!  Just work on the bike while its on the sidestand.  Make sure you have a new gasket on hand in case you tear the old one removing it.
You may want to replace or add an FJR spring to the pack at the same time.

Cheers,
Arnie

The banjos on the Spiegler lines can be rotated, so if it's just clocking, it's a non-issue.

I hope you can get away with that here in WA.  There are limitations on how close indicators can be, and riders get booked for "losing" their rear fender.

Might drop in on you next week.  Working at Cape Lambert, overnighting in Dampier, Tue - Thu.
