Anyone know where I can find one/get one made? I've done the usual searches and come up with zip.

Shoot off an enquiry to these guys, you never know.

Bill.

I bought from them only 2 weeks ago and unfortunately they don't make one.  I  have a brand new "touring" screen from them to sell in light tint, it has literally only been around the block, handled with cotton gloves and is perfect.

Right, everyone shoot em an e-mail asking if they make said screen and see if they crumble under the pressure and knock some up for us.

Do you guys make or could you make a tinted "double bubble" screen for the fj? If so what sort of price am I looking at?
Thanks, Ben.

I sent them the above message and I encourage others to send something similar. I seriously think that if enough of us prod them they'll fold. From what their site says, they will ship overseas. It can't hurt to give it a shot.  :unknown:

I will have to send them my request for the 86/87. hat would allow a place for a GPS to go where one can read it quickly.

Noel, I'm assuming you are selling your touring screen because you didn't like it?  Either way, can you elaborate on what you did and did not like?   I've got the windlip model from them and just cut 2" off the top of that screen today in an attempt to eliminate the wind noise I was getting.  I've used it for 2 years and liked the fact that it took the wind off my collar bone and neck, but lately the noise it created from the minor buffeting was getting to me.  Less buffeting and noise now that it's 2" shorter -- not perfect, but better.  I realize that the touring screen is taller than the windlip model, however I was curious how the touring screen would be on the FJ.

Thanks
Mark

OK so after a couple of very professional sounding emails I have got a positive response, as follows.

QuoteHello again Ben
To do this we would require several things:-

1. Another original screen with which to make a double bubble (slightly damaged is okay)
2. Some input into how much higher riders are looking for the screen to be (Measured at the back edge) (50mm? 60mm? 80mm? etc)
3. Is a "Lip" to be incorporated into the design or will a "straight" double arc be enough? To this end we would be happy to show you a few photos of screen examples to show what we mean.
4. Orders for 6 double bubbles (not necessarily from the same source)
5 Overall length of the screen required
Keep in mind that Postage out of Australia is, unfortunately, expensive

By the way we looked at supplying Gilera Saturno screens to japan some years ago .

Firstly is anyone able to supply them with a busted old screen to mould onto?
And a show of interest?

Cheers, Ben

I can do that, I live in the same city.
I know John personally.
I bought one of their touring screens with the lip some years back.

Mine is a '92 model.

I think I have a busted but complete one for the 86/87 year.

Ok so bill can supply a dummy screen for the later models and fjmonkey has one for the earlier models but it is stateside, ie. a long way from sandgroper town.

Do we have any Aussies with an old late 80's screen hiding in their shed?

Are you willing to send your screen fjmonkey?

Is it worth the effort?

Are many members interested?

We need at least 5 people other than me for them to even make em.

Cheers, Ben.

I don't get it.  If they sell the touring screen for our bikes, why can't they use that as a base?

I need to see if I still have it, I thought it could be used for other things, you know, the way us pack-rats think and fail to toss out the rubbish.

Having just bought their touring screen, the swoop up towards the rider probably makes it an impractical shape on which to base a double bubble.

I have just made an offer on a pile of '91 FJ stuff including a rough "finned" screen I could donate to the cause if it comes through.  Although I am still smarting from the $220 (incl. freight, ins., tax & credit card surcharge) I've just paid them for the "touring" screen.
