bare with me as I'm engine stupid.

i took apart the carbs, put them back together exactly as they were, except for the idle speed screw. for some reason i didnt mark how many turns out it was and so the idle speed after i put them back together was about 600 rpms. i took them back off, and adjusted the screw to about 1100 rpms. i went out for a ride today, and after about 10 mintues the idle speed jumped to 2000 and wouldnt go back down. do i have to adjust just the idle speed screw or do i have to adjust the idle mixture screws too?

thanks guys

Chris

Hey young man, I bet you're getting good at R/R'ing those carbs huh? (remove/replacing)
To start: I am assuming that your carbs are balanced. (If not, step #1)
1) Set your (4) air/fuel mixture screws at 2 and 1/2 turns out (screws= top of carbs engine side) be gentle they strip easy.
2) Start your bike, warm it up then set your idle speed (single screw at bottom center of carbs) to 1000 or 1200.
That should get you started.

To fine tune the mixture screws you do the "blip" test.  After fine tuning the mixture screws, adjust your idle speed accordingly.

I'm glad you're keeping her. It would be a shame to see my side bracket go to a stranger.

I had to laugh FJ vs. GSXR750, she's fast huh?   Cheers!   Pat

How do i reach the idle speed while the carbs are on the bike??

The carbs are balanced, the air/fuel mixture screws seem best at 5 turns out. Does it matter that i have a straight exhaust?

And i still really appreciate thag bracket Pat, saved my life!
And yes, shes incredibly fast.... Its awesome

Small hands, or a longish flatheaded screwdriver.

Wear gloves, it's gotta be hot to get it right.
