CanDman

Greetings  fellow FJ enthusiasts....my name is Kevin and I live in Toronto Canada. I have chosen the alias...CanDman....since I named my bike CanD.......being from Canada I love the colours of the FJ... that it resembles my flag on wheels.....also the colours of the candy cane........and lastly.......she is a sweet ride...lol. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and adventures and becoming a valued member of the club. I began riding in 85 and had a near death experience and stopped riding. In 08 I decided to pick up where I left off and bought an 85 fj 1100. After reading an article by Bob Shammas about turbo charging his fj....I became fixed with the idea. I began this project.... starting from the ground up. The front and rear mods are just at the beginning stage and I have all the parts and I am just about to begin the work. I will be posting questions regarding the thunderace mod and the FZ1 front fork mod. Once the front and rear are completed...I will proceed with the Turbo mod over the 20011/12 winter....unless of course my beloved leafs begin to play winning hockey again. That being said I want to thank you for the chance to be a member of this special group of friends. Kevin PS..I will be posting a photo album under CanDman....please feel free to look..........

Well it's good to have a plan. Trying to relive the past? Welcome aboard, sounds like you have the ambition to make this a helluva project!

CanDman

Thanks my carsick friend...... I appreciate the welcome. Just also want to tell you how much I love Vermont. Passed through there last summer on route to the Cabot Trail. The Adarondac and Vermont were as good if not a weee bit better the Cape Bretton. The roads...were....well I don't have to tell you.....lol  A WHOLE LOT OF FUN !!!!!! :drinks:.....I am a bit envious......Kev

Hey Kevin,

Welcome to the club! Awsome project you got on the go! Is your bike apart already? If not, you could attend the NorthEast Rally in Maine in July.  If your down this way, just holler....maybe go for a rip.  It'd be nice, though, to have 2 or 3 nice days in a row, eh!

Paul

CanDman

Thx Paul........nice to see a brother  :praising:...this is a cool site.....Maine ? you mean BAR HARBOUR?  :good: great little spot....too bad they scrapped the fairey into New Scotland (Nova Scotia)........for our cousins..... ... I will check the sched......Napenee is a sub of Ottawa yes?

Yeah...That's the Maine...Only , the Rally is in Bethel Maine, not Bar Harbour :rofl2:

And ...You were close..... Napanee is a town on the 401/East end of the Bay of Quinte....half way between Kingston and Belleville.
This IS a cool site....User-friendly as you can get with the Top Notch FJ Gurus who share their experience. :good:

Good luck with the Turbo! As far as the Leafs go....I would put money on having the Turbo completed....

CanDman

I love a win win situation......... :good2:......I hope to have the front and rear mod done before the end of june and would love to get to bethel. If we meet....we can always rip over to Bar for a lobster dinner and a boys night out....... lol..    :drinks:

Welcome, a turbo on an FJ....Riding my stock 86 is already a kick in the ass, bolt a turbo on....You are gonna get a brain injury when your eye balls slam back into your brain. Keep us posted, this sounds like a great project.

Flynt

Welcome Kevin.  I have the TA rear on my '92, but Rittner did the work so I'm not going to give you much help there.  I have gotten myself 2 FJs worth of OJT in the past year however and am happy to try to answer questions.

Enjoy,

Frank

Hey Monkey J and Mr Flynt..... I thank you for such a warm welcome....I don't know if I have ever been so warmly greeted. Your 86 was a 1200 and I am told that it was a vastly improved engine to the1100. I have had a wiseco piston upgrade done to it using a 1200 cylinder head bored..........but she's missing something......I grabbed a turbo from a spare 300zx engine I have sitting in my barn.....so I thought I was half way there...hahahaha :sarcastic:......not quite. I used to own a seca turbo....in fact it was my first bike....I also have a a 300zx twin turbo........I just love the feel of turbo acceleration.....it is quite a rush...the trick is keeping the nose down.......I am designing a special turn signal to replace the OEM. It will use a throtle handle basket with the cables rigged to a horizontal bar running just below the oil cooler. on the ends will be hand sized wings that I can adjust the pitch to creat severe down force for crazy accelleration....the light signals will be lining the front surface of the wings. A lock and release system will be grafted into the throttle basket to maitain any desired amount of downforce.....but can be adjusted when cruising.....this will be a fun project....I will post the progress and pick everyones brains..... :mail1:. I am told that Pat conlon did the thunderace swingarm mod to his 84....would love to get in touch

Welcome! Always nice to see a fellow Canuck. I'm in Nova Scotia and you never know when the ferry from Maine might start running again. It's a long ride to go all the way around!

CanDman

hello my brother  :drinks:.....I did the all the way around in one day.....9hrs........into Halifax........I would loved to have been able to stay there longer but time is always against us. Cape Breton was so cool absoloutely spectacular....tons of phots and some awsome video....although I am having a bit of difficulty trying to create an album and posting some of my videos.... I actually ended up in a town called Baddeck and carried on through the Cabot Trail.....what a ride ... what a journey....hope to it agian one day and I hope you are right about the fairy service.
