Shifter linkage nut in frame missing

not my spring. I noticed my shifter linkage was a little loose. i removed the bolt and found that the nut inside the frame must of broke loose and fell off. does anyone no of a fix for this?

I think he's talking about the shaft that sticks out of the frame that #9, 18, and 19 mount onto.

Already used by Yamaha on my 86' swing arm, I am gonna add a few more to mount the anchor point for my new under-slung brake stay. Been using them in my designs for over 10 years, great threaded blind hole solutions. Once installed,  use a bolt (or a stud with high strength thread lock). Problem solved. Plus, I get 0.00000000000000000000000000000001 percent in all sales revenue.....Not really. But they do work.

thanks for you input as you are correct I was speaking of the shaft that the shifter (#9,18,19) pivots on. everyone else thanks for responding. the rivnut is one option I had thought of and may be the easiest fix. here is a stupid question I tried to add a picture to the post and was unable to do so. can anyone give me a hint?

Hi, I have the exact same problem.  Ordered a pack of rivet nuts as well.  My question is how did you get the rivet nut into the frame?  The hole in my frame is way too small to fit the rivet nut.  Did you have to bore the hole out?

The hole must be opened up to the size listed for the chosen Rivnut. While I was considering using them to anchor my brake-stay I was not sure how the Zinc plated steel would react to the Aluminum swing arm over time. Once I had my swing arm degreased I noticed that Yamaha had already installed them in the swing arm for other fastener locations.  I guess they are OK to use considering the 25+ years that have not caused any issues... Rivnut away fellas....
