I think the FJ Club sells a similar type now: http://www.fjcatalogue.com/catalog/item/7172455/7805266.htm

I just bought these. These guards are seriously hard to find online!

On my FJ these had to be turned very slightly inward of "straight ahead" to clear the fairing.

To all, I thought I would contribute my KLR class modification to the FJ group.

Let see if that works, if it does that will be the first photo I've ever posted anywhere.......what you're looking at is a 2"x1 1/2" ABS drain pipe reducer($1.78 each at Lowes). I cut them through on 1 side with a hacksaw and slid them down the fork legs while I had them off the bike. You only gain 1" of coverage the way they are, but I'm picking up some 1 1/2" ABS pipe to split and glue onto the reducer to get more coverage. I don't know why you couldn't cut about 1" out of the reducer and slide it over the fork legs while they are on the bike. Take it for what it's worth.........cheap and available!

Arnie

Congratulations on getting the pic into your post :-)

Those look pretty short to me.  They'll help, but if they were 2-3 inches taller they'd do a lot more.
You can also get some foam pipe insulation and cable tie it to the fork lower.
If you get some 1 1/2" ID foam cover cut 2 x 4" pieces and slit them lengthwise you can then fit them in place.
If you like you can even get fancy and trim them like the polypropolene ones.

Arnie,
We're thinking the same thing about them being too short. I have some mods in plan fror the mod, I'll get that up in the next day or two.......

I've got the NOJ neoprene wrap around fork guards.  On my second set. Got them from Dennis Kirk.  Assume they still make/sell them.  They've worked great for me and were about $12 a set.

Wear your gear.

Arnie,
I split a 1 1/2" ABS coupling and glued it on with black ABS glue. Still need to clean up the joint, but I'm pretty happy now....

Arnie

Should work just fine.  Once you clean the joint and maybe put a RaceTech sticker or *Oil* brand sticker on nobody will know you didn't pay the big bucks for a store bought one :-)

Cheers,

Arnie,
Stickers! I hadn't even thought about stickers! Have a whole pile of hot rod speed part stickers in a toolbox drawer somewhere.....You know if I can find some faux carbon fiber overlay I can match my cheesy looking CBR 600 mirrors, "carbon fiber" frame sliders and ABS drain fitting fork tube guards....... I may have to start calling it my redneck rocket! :wacko3:

I used the ABS trick as well.  But mine were a bit too long and would slam into the bottom of the tripple tree on hard braking.  Had to cut them down quite a bit.   But they still work great!
Just a simple guy who loves his old FJ1200.

I was gonna ask Joe about that, as my horn will hit the fender if I'm braking hard and hit a bump (i.e. fully compressed forks). But then I noticed he doesn't have that to worry about.

Carsick,
I have to concur with fj12pilot, I just found out this evening why the real store bought fork guards don't reduce in size back towards the fork tube. Mine did indeed hit the bottom of the lower triple clamp. Pulled up to the gate on the driveway and the extension I had glued on fell to the gravel. Oh well, back to the drawing board. I'm waiting on some 1/8" ABS sheet to beef up around the top & side bolt holes on the front fender, has the usual cracks in it.
