I have a chance to pick up 2000 tl 1000 front end r=for 300 bucks. Has anyone tried to put this on the fj? If so what was necessary to mount them? Thanks for any info. big r

The first thing to check will be the length, the stock FJ forks are around 31 3/4in from the center of the axel to the top. Anything shorter will reduce ground clearance. The next thing to look into are the tripleclamps. They need to have the same offset as the stock FJ tripleclamps. Most sportbikes these days have tripleclamps with 15 to 20mm less offset then the FJ. Less offset = slower steering. 15mm less offset = VERY slow steering. If you plan on making your own tripleclamps you can overcome most any problem.

Good Luck, and keep us posted!

You could also look for clamps from another bike that would fit with an appropriate offset.

Hi,ive a TL1000 (not sure which year?)front end on my FJ1200 (1tx). When i started putting it together i had been told it was a Yamaha R1 front end,but ive been  since told its a  TL Thou.
The stem had i think been modified by the previous owner, but i need to pull the front end out to see? Luckily,i do need to replace the fork seals,im just waiting for the fork oil to come in the post, and then i can make a start. I'll take some pics, and send them to you (here).

After i posted the last message,i forgot to mention, the Tl1000 has 90mm spacings on the caliper mounts,so,the good news is,you can fix 6pot brakes if you want great stopping power!!

Easly U can swap this forks, but U need to do extenders.
I did same job year ago with my FJ and I got hayabusa forks.
Thas's exactly same forks as TL.
So U need to pres stem from TL yoke and feet FJ's, very easy to do and nothing else.
Difference between FJ and TL is 10cm. so the best idea is to make 8cm extenders.
Why?
If U loose 2cm from original lenght, drivebility, steering and sability is more than better.
