DHL or USPS Assistance

Does anyone here work for DHL or USPS or possibly knows anyone who works for them? I need some help...

I ordered taillights from Germany at the first of the month. Since he sent them via DHL, he sent them to my physical address and not my P.O. Box; I do not receive postal service at the shop. Since DHL uses the USPS to deliver in the states it lists the address as "INCORRECT; Return to sender".

I checked with my local P.O. and they confirm they sent it back last Monday :negative: (even though they said they knew it was mine, but since I don't get mail there they "CANT" deliver it)

They also tell me that since it is going back to Germany the package will sit in "storage" for 60 BUSINESS days before it returned to the sender. That means the sender won't get them back in his hands until the middle of June.

They would not or could not tell me if it was USPS, DHL or customs storage.

I hope someone out there has a connection and might be able to assist me as there is over $2000.00 worth of LED taillights sitting somewhere.

I was wondering how long it was going to be to get them in...I guess this answers that.
Sorry for the trouble Randy, I hope it gets worked out soon.

Well, after one recommendation (Randy T) and many phone calls I was finally able to get into contact with the "import" location, the main hub postal location; NY, NY.

I was able to get a gal on the phone that was able to assist me and give directions since the package is still in the US per the label scans.

But, since it originated in Germany the sender must do all of the work; not the receiver. So, hopefully not to much of the required changes gets lost in translation and it gets done so the package gets turned around before it leave the US.

If it does get out of the US, then it will be stuck in German customs for the 60 business days...

I contacted the seller and fortunately he works on Saturday as well and he informed me he has completed the required paperwork to get it turned around in time.

I am hoping for the best at this point.

What a pain in the ass for you Randy.   :negative:  I hope it works out!

What does it take to get the USPS to deliver mail to your shop?  A mailbox?  A couple forms filled out?  I really have no idea - but if you can get that sorted out then you'll never have this problem again!  Save money on your PO Box too!

The problem is my rotating "day" job schedule and my not being here at the shop to collect mail or packages; It is a choice I have made to keep mail & packages from disappearing when I am not here.

Well I just want to post an update, if you can call it that...

The package has not been scanned since originally picked up at my local USPS office back on 3/21 so even though a DHL address correction/investigation has been started, it has to be scanned before anything can be done.

So, I have placed another order of lights this morning and now the shipper and I have a clear understanding where everything must be shipped; I am hoping to have the lights with in 7-10 business days.

Thank you for all of your patience as this has been a real learning experience.
