I recently purchased an '85 FJ1100 with 7,600 + miles. The story is that the original owner kept it until last March when it was purchased off Craigslist. It has braided brake and clutch lines, lower fairings, K&N air filters and a "factory" Corbin Gunfighter seat. I say factory because the underside seat pads are the same as the ones on a stock seat, not like the ones that come with a Corbin seat. I heard that certain high volume dealers were permitted to order bikes with these modifications. I have also been told that that is nonsense, but that some dealers did the modifications with Yamaha's blessing. Is anyone here knowledgeable about this and willing to share?

Thanks

Corbin did make some seats for the Yamaha accessory brochure back in the day... I've seen them on FZRs, but not an FJ, though I'd bet they made them for FJs, too.

The tags on them said 'Yamaha - by Corbin', or something like that.

Randy, I believe you are right. I just sold my "Dealer Installed" Corbin to ScooterBob.

The tag was pretty worn out, but the bike had nearly 80,000 miles on it when that seat came off.

Yeah Mike, that's the one... those Eclipse seat bags and Chase Harper saddlebags we discussed a while back carried similar tags.  They were in the same Yamaha accessory brochure.
