Best from standard motor

Someone recently posted their views on getting the best out of a standard motor. I have a '93 that I rebored last year and know that my cam timing is not spot on ( stretched chain)'

The list as I recall was  : Dergreed cams (adjustable sprockets)
                                : Snorkel off air cleaner
: 5 deg. advance on ignition - I think the value of that has been disputed by some.
                                : Relay to coils
: Main jets? - I have Staintune slipons but don't know if jets are standard.
: At 70,000 K's am I likely to need carby internals?

Would appreciate some views on this.

Thanks

Noel

More specifics.  Standard motor, defined?

Far and away the best way to get power would be a shim base gasket and a turbo system, y`know.

With a fresh rebuild, and assuming that the rings are sealing well, the valves are sealing well, and that everything is fundamentally pretty healthy, any of those may or may not be good ideas.  With that kind of mileage, taking a good look at the emulsion tubes wouldn't be a bad idea.  I'd definitely suggest putting slotted sprockets on the cams and getting the alignment marks on the #3 bearing caps perfect, only because I know how much better my engine felt after I did just that, it'd have been well worth $50 or so in parts.

Past that, if it pulls strong to redline and generally behaves itself, just ride it!

Aftermarket valve springs will help it too! I seem to remember that the legend racers don't use the stock springs because they go soft very quickly. I also recall that its worth 15hp.
