i think it might look better to try and integrate the FJ seat pan with the R1 tailsection.... At least the seat /tank interference would be perfect.... trust me the way the seat is shaped at the nose is a good thing for the family bits.

also the stock side panels  might could be modified to blend in with that tail section .. that would clean everything up under the tank.

I think the FJ is one of the best bikes ever built.... SO put it all back the way it was... :nea:

Doesn't look very fast.  I'd suggest adding an engine.   :wacko3:

Might be good to try a different tank, or cut down the stock one.  Depends on your idea of streetfighter, really.  Some like the kicked up tail thing, some like basic machines minus plastic.

Right now its a downhill bike :D  as for the tank to seat gap, I'm doing just that frank. As for the side panels, I will be making some more sleek panels from carbon. Don't get me wrong I love the fj I'm just making it unique in my own way, strengthening weaknesses and shaving weight. Thanks all! Cheers,
Justin

what front end have you used? did you need to modify the headstock to get it to fit?

fjkid

The forks are 1995 Kawasaki zx7r cartridge forks or you can use the zx9r, I've heard the 9er is a few inches taller. I went with the lucky zx7r forks because they were too good a deal to pass up.

I had to turn down the stem so that the upper bearing race about 5mm,in order for it to seat all the way. Accordingly had to modify the steering stops. If you plan on doing this swap, ALSO plan for a steering damper.

I've got a 95 zx9 in the garage, if you want the forks measured.  It's a really good front end.

I think the fj's with the shortened seats look great, this is a mod i made myself with a spare seat, but in reality i need a 2 seater bike for my mrs and myself.

Flying Scotsman

Both those bikes look great with the short rear end.
