Hi  guys

My names Mike I live in Augusta GA. and I'm the new owner of a 1989 FJ 1200 that runs like crap.
I've been reading everthing I can find on this bike and have sent Randy a PM for carb parts.
I'm sure I'll asking questions in the near future.

I Have brand new sets of carbs for $375.00 still in the box. For the FJ owners club guys only, at that price.
Depending on how bad yours are.

  Thanks for the welcome.

Randy is shipping the carb parts, so this weekend I'll be stripping and cleaning the carbs.

I have the cleaner to soak them and an air compressor to blow em out so I should be ok.

I will give you a bit of advice.... when you think you have your carbs clean enough.... clean them some more.

i cant begin to tell you how many times i have heard people speak of having to take their carbs back off again because they didnt clean them well enough to start with. .... do the job right and enjoy the results .

Yeah I have set aside my entire 3 day weekend for messing with the carbs.

Who knows what I'll find.  :dash2:

I found that the trickiest part of stripping the carbs was re-attaching the breather from the top of the engine into the air filter box. There isn't space to get your hand in. I make a couple of tools. The first to grab the clip on top of the tube to pull it into position and the second to push the tube onto the spigot and refit the metal clip. Or you could enlist the help of a small child.

Stuart....nice work.

I found it OH so much easier if you remove the spigot from the airbox and leave the tube attached to it.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

That's what I do, then I use a long screwdriver to lever it back in when re-assembling....never had a problem lining it up with the hole.
