Extra clutch spring

Gents,

Has anyone ever stripped the thread of the bolts on the plate that hold in the clutch spring?

I'm asking because I didn't torque mine to the required setting (5.8 ft lb).  These bolts seem to turn forever, and I am worried that my torque wrench won't pick up and click on such a light setting.

Newp, I use a beam-type torque wrench.  And it's a shockingly light amount of torque spec'd.

If you're worried on it, blue locktite won't hurt you at all.

If you've already stripped it, undoubtedly it could be helicoiled, though you'd want to maintain the balance of the assembly, so you'd have to do more than one.

I've done dozens of these without problem. You'll develop a very strong grip in your left hand though.

No, not stripped.  I will try a few more turns, I figure if it isn't tightened up as it should be, clutch action will not be correct.

Its all good, I used a different torque wrench.

Strong left hand - not too bad with the FJR1300 master cylinder.

I'm in the process of mucking around with my clutch and cant seem to find the torque settings u talk of Bill. My question is, the 5.8 ft lb's u mention above is that the setting only if you add the 2nd spring? or is that the recomended setting for just one spring?

5.8 ft lb, as per the service manual, with the standard single spring.
