Having read Arnie's informative posts for sometime I was stunned to find out he lives less than an hour from me in a small township I often pass through. I only became aware of this when he offered parts for sale and mentioned his mailing address. I have since met up with Arnie in the flesh, and a most enjoyable meeting it was. However, had he not listed those parts and had I not happened to see the post, I would have gone on thinking he was in the USA. My point is, should location be a minimum requirement on member profile on posts. Could also be handy in knowing what parts are worth following up and making contact with fellow FJer's, as I did with Arnie.
Just a thought.

Nah, fooey.  None of yer damned business.

Some folks are just paranoid.  That doesn't mean others are NOT out to get them either.

And, listing a location of "Melbourne" leaves you still pretty anonymous, where listing a location of Lethbridge only gives you ~300 doors (max) to knock on before you find me.

I can understand that those who go out of their way to be obnoxious and insulting may choose to hide behind the supposed cloak of invisibility (if a skirt is not available). :-)

So, while its frequently helpful to know where a person is, I don't see any necessity unless they're selling something.

Cheers,
Arnie

There is a field where someone can put in their location if they want to - but I see no need to make it mandatory.

It doesn't make any difference to me, but I have always wondered why people are reluctant to include that info, much in the same way people cover their plate numbers in pictures and video?

Must be something out there I'm not aware of.
