Hmmm, I get there a week or so before the Rally.
I plan on leaving L.A on the Sunday before the weekend of the Rally and taking 5 days to get there via some really interesting roads that feature on Pashnits excellent C.A Roads site.
That should be a good way to get the hang of this new fangled eyetalian machine I done got.

Hey LA Mike,

If you want to hook up for a ride over Palomar, IM me some time. I live in San Diego and would love the chance to hook up with you guys on a ride down here.  I am really going to be tied up the during July, hence my absence at the rally but still would love to ride with other FJ's.

Let me know,

If you boys do Palomar let me know as well -- its is down the road for me.  Klavdy -- a nice run is 76 to Palomar then down the backside - back to the 76 East -- stopover at the Hideout.  Leave via Mesa Grande - end up at the 79 - go south to 78 then head to Julian.  From there you can head for more fun down the 79.  I also know a back way to come full circle -- very scenic but slow and all paved.  Let me know --PM us

Steve,

I am game to just hook up with anyone from here and do Palomar/Mesa Grande/Wynola/Julian/Sunrise Hwy/Buckman Springs/94 on down to San Diego some weekday.  Weekends are always bad for me as I have professional obligations most times.

PM me and let me know,

YEAH!
That's a great run, how's about we do it after the Rally?
Prefer to do it through the week though, especially Palomar and I read about the CHP targeting the Ortega?

Can do it after - anytime that makes sense for you.  Ortega has some construction going on it right now -- I think they close it nightly but I will have to check to see whats going on with it.

Hummm, are we working on bikes during the WCR??? Seems like some of the pictures of past rallies are working under tarps in the rain to get one or more FJ's up to snuff for the the next days ride....Rain? Maybe the picks are from the east side.....my bad sorry. Hard to think that some wrenching is NOT going to happen. Kind of like a "small" camp fire, or only 16 ounces of Red cap to share, potato cannons limited to 0.25 caliber and under 100 FPS. Stories of how fast we were, gotta stop now. I can't wait.....

It seems that folk can bring whatever they want to a Rally, and that "Colourtune" would be good to see up close and in action.
The beauty of these shindigs are that if you don't feel like riding and would love to just kick back at camp, more power to you!
It's a beaut social occasion, for some the ride to the Rally is enough and it's a nice place we're going to.
Yeah! Bring your tools, there's always some mechanicking going on, mind you, bringing a buggered bike and kind of expecting it to get rebuilt is frowned on.
See you there real soon,,,

Dunno about you blokes but I'm getting excited, less than a month and I'll be riding in the U.S.
Pretty much got my shit sorted, bike, gear, route etc: me & Fluffy will do some last minute tweaks like bolting on the GPS and setting up the comms systems, then its off and riding!
Yay!
Been looking up stats for the weather on this site and it looks like it should be perfect riding temps through the day with just a touch of chill at nights to make the fires even moar bettah!
