Short answer:  No, and not many really want to.  That's why there isn't a kit commonly available.

I like knowing that I have some chicken strip left just in case I get into a corner a little too hot and have to increase the lean angle. With a tire that wide you lose the round profile that gets you around a corner safely in the mountain curves I like to ride. Upgrading to 17" & 5.5" in rear is my wide tire mod. But if you live in flat places like Texas then I guess its alright. You still pay a lot for a tire that does not give back any performance. And if you need two chains to do it, then twice the cost of chain replacement. But you need to do what makes your boat float. Show us when you done with your mod....

Well i own two 86 models, thought i would do something different with the other one

So put a wide tire on it.

But not one of those chromosexual crap bits.  Make it a badass one, like these.

I'm very tempted to move this topic over to the humor section.....but then again, this question isn't very funny....

It may not be funny Pat, but at the same time it is a big joke!

Did I miss the post where aceman did something to deserve being treated like a dick?

He already said he had two '86's and wanted to do something different with one of them.  All mods are at least a bit subjective, this one perhaps more so, and likely less functional, but so be it.

Thank you for singling me out here, even though others are taking their shots at this topic also.
I'm sure you had your reasons.

Honestly, I will stay away from such topics as I could care less what anybody does to their machine because it's not me riding it, thank God!

I call it like I see it.  It was nothing personal but you were the last to pile on.  Oh, and I referenced you, referencing Pat as well.

After I posted my rebuke, I went back and looked at the man's posts.  He introduced himself, shared pictures of his $800 NOS bike, voted on the best looking FJ, and offered to hook-up and ride with others.  A solid forum citizen.  I saw no reason to be dumping on him for asking about a mod that other don't see as valuable.

Klavdy will probably call me a nanny-stater for this, but c'est la vie.

Call you a Nanny Stater?
Huh?
I'm with you Dan, Acmans seems a good feller.
It's the blokes bike, not mine or anyone else's,he can do whatever he wants to do with it.
Why would I care?
More to the point, why would anyone else?
They can all get fucked, buncha busy bodies.

I like a bit of individuality. My good friend Robbie built a chopper with an fj motor fitted,a second hand suzuki vitara 4x4 wheel and a 230 tyre (tire!)lol). So,i figure anything can be done with some thought?

http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=1959.0

I myself have recently bought 3  240 tyres (tires!)because they were cheap at £10 a piece (about 20 dollars each?).
This has now got me thinking......my fj with a 240 back end to sit with my gsx1260(suzuki gs1150 in US) with its 330 back end....
