Hey All,

I have seen quite a few meantions of the YZF wheels being suitable for the FJ and have found a set off a 96 model. :good2:

Do the 96 fronts/rears fit the 91 FJ?  Does anyone have a link with some detail of what is needed.  If I buy the wheels what should I make sure I get with them.

thanks

Marty,

Get everything you can shy of the frame and engine.  :-) Not sure if you should get the swingarm & shock, but grafting on the whole front end will be a great upgrade.  You'll still have to use an 'other' speedo, but it should be worth it.

Cheers,
Arnie

Rear fits with some machining, front would be a total tranplant.

Why do you have to use another speedo with the YZF front end?

Mine seems to work just fine.

Maybe you're thinking of the FZ1.

Well, if you can just hook up the FJ cable and drive, then that's even better.
I thought they weren't compatible.  Sorry for my error.

I think you were thinkin of the FZ1, like Frank and (IIRC) Eric have.

The FJ speedo won't work with that one.

Frank has a pretty cool setup for his instruments, though.

I'm sure he or Eric will jump in here soon.

Only thing I don't like about the YZF fork swap is that my FJ Superbrace won't fit it.

The 2002 FZ1 front end does not use a mechanical drive for the speedometer like the FJ does. I think it uses a sensor off of the countershaft to sense speed. I am using my garmin GPS for a speedo now. I get directions and my speed in one unit. HTH
