Hi everyone,

This one is simple... maybe obvious but I didn't figure this...
To replace gas filter how do I close gas so it will not poor out?

My FJ is a 92' model.

Remove the two 6mm bolts holding the tank to the frame. Lift up the back end of the tank, under the tank there is a small petcock, use an 8mm wrench to turn the fuel off and replace the filter. Just dont forget to open it back up before bolting the tank back on...

What Erik said.
With the added comment that the petcock is nylon and you only need to turn it 1/4 turn.  Be gentle you don't want to damage it.

Cheers,
Arnie

Anyone got a common part number to that filter, like a NAPA number or Autozone?  Rather than getting a dealer one.
Do not argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Search on ebay. All types of filters for the FJ there...

Thanks Erik and Arnie! :good2:

Not exactly what I was looking for.  I am looking for a stock part number of an autoparts store, so I can go pick one up this evening and put it on.  Prefer not to pay for an "official" yamaha filter.   :nea:

A NAPA #3007 fit perfectly into my '89...  YMMV

I'll have to pass that up because they shipped my order this morning- guess I'll have to buy another $100 worth of filters to get free shipping.

I reckon I should change mine out then.  It's been in there for a couple of years, so I guess I've been lucky.
