Mate, that's a sweet cruiser, it's the Roadliner?
I'd ride that one.
Hmmm, yeah, why not.

Yeah, but here's the question; would you 'ride that one' if that exact same bike had the words "Haley Davidson" on the side?
Yeah, course I would.
It's not so much the bikes,(H.D) it's the attitude of some of their riders that is funny.
Given the right setting and frame of mind, you can have enormous fun on a cruiser.

The attitude and the insane prices for those things.

I stopped in a the HD dealer in Daytona with my 5 yr old son for shits and giggles and on the way out there was trike by the front door. As i was looking at incredible money profiting machine the salesman came over and started talking to me about the bike. Being polite for my son's sake I commented on how nice the trike was. The sales guy said this is the top of the line, bestest motorcycle in the whole USA. I asked how much it was and he said $54,000. Now, I own a goldwing as well as several other bikes (none of which are Amrican made) and the big thing is to make a full dresser into a trike as the new older guy trend. The most expensive trike conversion, complete with electronic independant suspesion from what I have been told(check me if I'm wrong) is around$6-$7k. Considering the top of the line Goldwing with every option is around $33k or so it seems that that a POS Electra Glide or whatever the hell the base bike is with an automotive solid axle rear trike conversion for $54K is a bit much.

BUT, I give it to HD INC for getting people to buy it...... :good2:

I'm amazed that people actually do buy these things.  Its their money.

However, unless I'm wrong (possible) all the Honda Goldwings are made in Marysville Ohio.  I think since the 1200's.

Cheers,
Arnie

Well, that's good to know, I stand corrected! I am liking my 85LTD even more.

HD operates on the same principles the American Auto makers recently used to operate on. Over priced, underbuilt, profit centers not interested in the well being of the American consumer.

Now don't get me wrong, I would buy American (HD) if the darn things wore worth buying.

The Bruce Rossmeyer Harley dealerships around Daytona have a reputation of ridiculous mark ups on all motorcycles that they sell.  But $20,000 in markup (and/or needless accessories) is crazy.  The price tag must have had a line that said stupidity charge (or excessive chrome charge).

Mell00

Yea, I can believe that. They claim to be the bigest HD dealer in the country. It is quite an impresive place for sure. A good place to take the 5 yr old who is ate up with motorcyles. That and the burger stand next door is pretty good.

But still, $54,000??? Really???

I was a little worried it would be an FJ... whew. Although, it does look exactly like my Maxim I sold last fall. If they really wanted to make some money they should put a Harley on the ice and ransom it to the highest bidder.
