Say what you will everybody is entitled to there opinion.Or you could come meet me in person and then decide if im a recless idiot or not.I try not to make opinions about other people without meeting them but thats just me.I know I need some gear its getting cold out I also know theres no better way to cool off after a days work in a sweatshop than going for a ride in shorts and a t,shirt.I also think that any one who is afraid to wipe out should be wearing gear because fear will get you hurt imo.So if any of you nay sayers want to come and put some miles on your bike we can go for a ride and then you post your opinion of how I ride or dress and I will be happy to listen.Otherwise I dont realy care what you think go ahead and think what you like.

I guess I will jump in,seeing as this has become a safety gear thread.I live in a state without a helmet law.But that doesn't really matter to me,I always wear one.I have worn one since I was maybe eight years old.I work at a high performance Harley shop.I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but it is true.Maybe ten percent of our customers wear a helmet. In the five years I have worked there we have had a couple customers die in crashes at bicycle speeds. But hey,it was their choice.
Given a choice I will wear as much gear as temp's will allow. But I also adjust my riding style accordingly. But after thirty-five plus years of racing on and off pavement,I don't ride very aggressively on the street.
I'm guessing I have crashed one side or another of a hundred times racing, several at 120+.So far I have only gone down once on the street, and that was on a 175 Kawasaki dirt bike before I had a license.I ended up on some guys lawn while he was gardening ,and I got up and moving before he could yell at me.
I am not afraid of crashing, but I know what it's like,so I work really hard at saving it.

I personally don't get involved in telling other riders what to wear.We all know the risks and can make our own decisions.I do get a little tired of people making the statement that someone isn't a real rider because he of she doesn't wear all the gear.
