Just found the board.  Looks great.  How long has it been around?  Nice to find fellow enthusiasts.  I've got a couple FJs and XJs in various stages of restoration.  I will keep my eyes open for some tips on the FJs.

Good stuff Jake.  This '86 came from your province a couple of years ago...from up north in Sudbury.  I've since picked up a Corbin seat for it, and freshened up the motor / beefed up the transmission (to a 1993 c/w updated shift forks).  I see there's a lot of mods you folks online are doing to the suspensions, etc.  I'm kinda old fashion and prefer keeping them as close to original as I can.  Have a sweet '85 FJ1100 I'm currently working on.  Hope to have it complete by the fall.  The ol' FJ's seem to be holding their own up here in Canada.  I still meet the odd one while traveling around in the summer.  Your's looks to be in good shape.  Pretty big snowstorm here right now, but it won't be long before I dig 'er out for my first ride of the season.

Good chattin' at ya

Hey guys thanks for the warm welcome.  Frank, maybe after some seat time I'll progress to the "stickies" and 4 pots.  I've only driven for a couple years now so I don't push em too hard.  I'm getting to the age where I've realized I'm not invinsible anymore.  You've got some nice touring roads down your way.  Toured around down there a couple years ago.  Stopped in a place called Hendersonville for a break.  Gradice, nice to hear from "down under".  FJ's seem to have a strong following in Austrialia.  Like Canada, the dealers must have sold a lot of them back in the mid to late 1980s.  My XJs are little 550s.  I like the motors, they're basically the same as the FJ's (inline 4, air cooled), even the carbs are close.  Basically same Mikuni pilot and main jets sizes.  I bought my first one to go back and forth to work on, now my girlfriend has her eye on it.  She's just signed up for her bikers safety course, so I guess I"ll use the FJ to commute to work this summer (not a bad thing).  I bought a 2nd XJ550 for spare parts.  When I got it home and cleaned it up I realized it's in pretty good shape, just needs a little TLC.  Might have to fix that one up for myself.  You can never have too many bikes.  Maybe I need a little therepy regarding this bike thing.

Hi Greg,

I too just discovered this board after being a lurker for some time on the Yahoo list.  Got myself an '89 FJ1200 and live in Windsor, NS.  It's still in the shed in the back yard but should be out within the week.  Just last week my next door neighbor bought an "85 FJ1100.  Where do you live?

Welcome Greg one of these days maybe i'll ride up your way. My wife was born in New Glasgow NS....

Did a trip to NS about two months after I got my FJ back in '96.  We did all the usual places.  Nice place and nice folks.  Eating lobster every day wasn't bad, either.   :nyam1:

Hey, it sounds like we might have to get a little FJ Rally going here in Nova Scotia (yes, there should be lobster involved).  Dave I'm not far from you, right here in Truro, the hub of N.S. (close to New Glasgow also). I've now got 4 FJs (picked up another '86 3 weeks ago in PEI.  (Some people collect stamps).  Now all I have to do is find time to get some of 'em finished.  Those Legends racecars that race at Scotia Speedworld near Halifax have basically the same motors (actually new Yamaha XJR1300s from overseas) with the same carburetors so I've been swamped tuning those things up to get them ready for the upcoming race season.  If you ever need a hand with your carbs or valve adjustment, etc. give me a shout.  I've got quite an inventory of parts on hand.  I'll be going through your neck of the woods sometime this summer.  I like that road that crosses the province from Windsor through to Chester.  Will take that route on a cruise to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, area.  Will have to touch base with you.  If you're coming up this way let me know.
