Ouch, hate it when that happens -

Especially when it is totally the riders fault!

Just amazing to see how quickly the bike flicks over in a high-side.  Between shots 13 and 14, the bike articulated over ~ 50 degrees, in what is probably an 8th of a second.  Glad to see you standing and in one piece after the flight.  Sorry about the off though.

Man, the photo guys are going to make a boatload of money off of you! Glad to hear you are ok. See if they will give you a "bulk / crash" discount rate...

Damn Deano..  I hope you're ok.  cool pics though.

If you click through them quickly it's almost like watching a movie in slow mo.  In 13 you're still trying to save the low side.. one frame later you're in full launch mode.

Glad to see you up and walking Dean, looks like it could have been much worse. Thanks for the pics....

good onya fer trying to ride it out.....  it still sucks to unintentionally dismount regardless.

I hope your ankle is doing better and that the rest of the pain goes away quickly.

Kookaloo!

Now I know what I must have looked like when I highsided....... only difference was my son went flying over the top of me as I flew over the bars.

The body will heal and the bike will repair!

Chin up mate.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

So did the helmet "self-close" during the crash?  What started it?  Looked like something started dragging and levered the rear off the ground or lightened it up enough that it lost traction?

Or was it too much throttle?

Glad to see you walking afterwards.  What did the LEO have to say?

IIRC, I've seen Dean's past pictures from the Dragon with sparks a flying.... Even with the black stripe and lack of sparks (this time) looks to me like Deano ran out of ground clearence and unloaded the back tire.

Most importantly: Glad you're not hurt laddie.

....If you were riding your FJR would this have happened?

In pic 7 you can see sparks starting - foot pegs?  leading edge of the muffler starting to make contact?  Maybe the centerstand?  And the tire had already started to leave a black line too.

Glad you walked away - looks like you and the FJ faired a lot better than me and an RZ350 did several years ago while trying the same maneuver!

thats what I'm thinking. #7 and #8 stuff is really dragging and the black skid appears..  some combination of throttle and unweighted tire when rear starts stepping out.

Well if your going to wipe out that's a manly man's way of doing it. Awesome
cornering skills. Something to aspire to .. except the last bit of course. The
fates should have let you get away with that one. You get my vote for inclusion
to the Fj hall of fame .... probably top of the podium ... I mean... who can
beat that kinda corner commitment???
