Hey all,  My name is Don and and I have problem.   I love to do projects but have too little time.. the usual story.   I picked up a 86 FJ1200 that need some TLC, turns out it needed a lot.  Fixed a bunch of little things but now I have to figure out why the starter doesn't work. Unfortunately I seem to have run out of steam/desire  and other projects are getting all the priority.   The thought that the carbs will probably need cleaning is probably a major cause of procrastination.   I'm seriously contemplating selling it off even though I would take a loss as it would free up some valuable garage space.   What do you think?

Arnie

Don,

I think you need to prioritize your time if not your life.  As we all know, motorcycles are the most important single item in our lives and if this means we have to give up a few of the non-essentials, then so be it.
If cleaning carbs has led to your fit of procrastination, then take them off and send them to someone like Randy (rpm@swaybar.com) to clean and adjust them for you.  If you're contemplating selling your FJ to "free up some valuable garage space" then you need to realize that the most important item in your garage is the FJ and you need to toss all those other less important items (like your wife's car) out to sit in the snow while your beloved FJ stays dry and warm inside.
And, if other projects are taking up too much of your time, you need to either stop allowing them to come between you and your FJ, or maybe get some other schlong to perform the skut work on your other projects and allow you the freedom to concentrate on your FJ.

Best of luck - now go make the "right" choice,

Arnie

Don , get it running and ride it .

you need to remember why you have an  fj .

the speed, the power, the sound of 3rd gear at 8k rpm on a long sweeper.

that will get your mind right. :wacko3:

+1 , Don!
get 'er running and ride it....if you sell it , you'll regret it. If you ride it , you'll thank yourself you did the right thing!!!     there are lots of pros here to guide you through getting it on the road.  the FJ is an easy bike to work on. :good:
And Welcome! :hi:

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys.   As you may have noticed by my thread in "running problems", I've started to do some more work on the FJ.  Arnie, there are no un-important things like the wife's car in the garage.  The garage is the only space that is mine, and as such it's full with my projects/toys.
