after carbs have been removed and all the fuel removed, i seem to have a problem getting the fuel back into them. any thoughts on this. the fuel valve is in the prime position but no go. it is a 84 fj . thanks dave.

Bad fuel line routing/ kinked fuel line?  The FJs are pretty sensitive to proper fuel line routing.  Also, make sure gas actually FLOWS from the petcock when the fuel line is not connected, if not then it's (obviously) the petcock.

fuel is flowing down the line fine. just will not fire .. is their another way to prime these carbs

open the drain screws at the bottom of the carbs each in turn until you have a steady flow of fuel . this will ensure you have full carbs full to start with.

Get the volt meter and check the normal culprits:

side stand switch

run kill switch

starter button

clutch switch

well it seems run kill switch, starter button, clutch switch checks out ok, except side stand switch seems this was removed. anything else  i should be checking before i get to expensive parts. thanks again for any thoughts any might have. my winter plans for this bike just got moved up a couple of months .. oh well it needs a complete check up .

Coil grounds and wiring.Mine were green inside the insulation about two inches up from the connectors. There is also a small red that goes from the battery to the harness that had a gazillion ohms of resistance on my '86.I replaced about eight inches of that.
But I will say that when the carbs are right it doesn't take much of a spark to make it run.But all the spark in the world won't help if the carbs aren't right.

thanks i will check that out .. at the moment i have no skark at all
