Has anyone put an aftermarket gas cap on their FJ?
If so, who's did you use and what  bike was it off of? I can't find anyone who list one for an FJ, but I have to think some other bikes would fit.

I have a Vortex gas cap on my 1996 YZF600. Its very light weight, and well made. My YZF and FJ use the same gas cap.

No, not w/o changing the complete tank it self.

No, like snarky said.

Someone may be willing to trade since the 1100 tanks hold slightly more than the 1200 tanks...but each would have to be painted to match

I'd like to know if you bought the cap from ebay if you can switch out the key for your own original. So as not to have 2 keys.

A few options:
1. A locksmith may be able to rekey one of the lock cylinders if you take them in
2. If the key will fit in both locks, have a new key made with one set of teeth on one side, and the other set on the opposite side.  Only one set of teeth is used - you just might have to turn the key the other way around depending on which lock (on my mix and match setup, the keys have opposite "zig zags" so I can't do this   :dash2:
3. Buy a lock set (of all three locks) off ebay

I cant understand why Yamaha wasted time and money on the FJ11 gas cap  It only lasted 2 years. Mine was badly rusted so I took it apart and had it chromed. Rusted again in 6 months. Its full of pin holes. These will require metal filler before future chroming. In the meantime I gave it a spit and polish then a thick coat of clear lacquer. They are rare.
