Welcome ! Sounds like you got family piece of history, nice. If you are going to strip it down someone might be interested in the GIVI rear rack support side arms you have there or at least that's what it looks like. Top plates are available on fleabay, the FJ support arms are a little more difficult to find. Keep everyone posted on your progress.

Darn, I had a feeling this shock wasn't gonna be much help. from what I have read, it sounds like the penske is going to be out of my budget. is there any other options for rear shocks? maybe from other bikes that would provide an inch or so of rear end lift.


I along with others on a budget have fit a shock from a Honda f4i.  That'll jack it up.
