 Sorry i posted this on one of the other sections, so i'm reposting. Does anyone have any pics of fjs like this? I'm getting ready to build my own arm and put a 250 on my 84 fj that i picked up for $300.

Hello Chad, welcome.

Nope, never seen one one on a FJ. The largest I've seen was a 190/50-17 rear tire. (UK FJ site)

A 250 wheel huh?   On a $300 motorcycle?   Hmmmm. (I was gonna ask why? but I won't)

Ok I'll play....

First off:
No way, no how, will a 250 wide tire and the necessary 7 or 8" wide rim will fit a FJ swing arm.
1) You will need to get a custom swing arm made, then you will find;
2).The sprocket on the wide rim will stick out so far so to allow the chain to clear the side of the 250 tire, meaning the chain line will be waaaay outside the countershaft sprocket on the FJ motor.
A couple of  options;
First: When you get your custom swing arm fabricated you can get a jack shaft included to handle the offset chain or, Second: Get a custom longer output shaft made for the FJ and install a output shaft support plate like the drag racers do. Take look at Sandy Kosman's catalog and you will find these output shaft support plates for Kawasaki and Suzuki drag bikes....alas nothing for the old FJ...   http://www.kosman.net/

What's the widest one they make?

That's what I'd put on there.      :i_am_so_happy:

I agree.   :good2:  In MotoGP they are running, what, 400 or 450 wide rear tires now?  While that kind of advanced racing technology may not have trickled down to us mere mortals yet - at least with a 250 or 300 wide rear we can dream of riding like Rossi as we take those corners!   :rofl:

And maybe you can get rid of that pesky side stand too!

Chad

Don't know if i will be doing any of that but i love the low, long, loud & wide. The biggest i've heard of was a 460.

Chad

i'm really wanting to do some motor work and get some respectable power out of it.(over stock) Oh and put a spider pipe on it.
