Are "scooters" part of the "brotherhood"

We don't wave here in Western Australia.  We nod.

I won't nod to scooters, hardleys, trail bikers.  I used to, but after not getting the expected nod back, have given up.
Sometimes I even confuse pretend hardleys with hardleys, and don't nod at them either.

Are scooters a part of the brotherhood?  Only if they elicit respect, eg when a Bergman can keep up with my ZRX1200 in the twisties (and they sometimes can).

Back to motoracism or moto-snobbery, there are those few people who ride and will look at you while you wave to them but for whatever reason do not wave back.

I figure this is due to a few things.

One, they are newbies or totally insecure and are afraid to ride without both hands on the handlebars. Or it is possible they are in a position that makes them uncomfortable to wave, whatever, they have good intentions.

Secondly, they really did not see my wave for whatever reason. more good intentions.

Finally, they are motoracist or moto-snobs and they can kiss my arse. No good intentions here, no sweat off my back, they're the minority and more than a few of them rank as "toxic people" and I've learned over my half a century on this planet that they are best avoided, not worth my time.

Many times, the "low" wave, it hard to see. Sometimes the people you think are not waving really are. High wave, low wave, open hand, peace sign, the "live long and prosper vulcan thing" - that's nit picking, heck, even a head nod is good enough for me.

You see a lot of nodding here in the midwest too.

And when you are driving in the rural areas, almost every driver waves.

The number of 2-wheeled riders who do not wave back is very small around these parts.

My kids, they ride scooters partially because it is all they can "legally" get away with around here.





They are riders, not sure if they wave or not, never noticed.

I have seen riders of every type of motorcycle wave at them.

What if you are the proud owner of a Moped/Scooter AND an FJ1200?  Do I need to be nice and wave when I drive my FJ and then convert to a complete tool  if I drive the Moped?

IMO (as someone mentioned earlier) if you are dumb brave enough to drive a moped at "Mach -5" on the streets, then you deserve a wave.  It may be a pitty wave or a signal of some sort, but at least some recognition returned to the person that is on two wheels.

Lets look at the NOD and how it evolved.

England, New Zealand, Japan, Australia etc drive on the left.
That means when you approach another vehicle, it is on your right hand side.

Bit hard to wave with your right hand, no?

Plus , the above countries are not all touchy feely faggoty like some and don't see the constant need to have their choices validated by strangers.
