F150 or E150?

In an effort to reduce major slab suckage and increase riding time in far northern parts of C.A, opinions are sought regarding transporting two bikes via F150 or E150.
Vans are good, they hide things from prying eyes and muffle sounds.
Pick Ups are good too, just hose 'em out.
No trailers coz C.A has that stupid 55 MPH law re trailers.
It looks like you can get two FJ's (nose to tail) in an F150.
Can you do the same in an E150 Van?
Or would fumes etc from the bikes become unpleasant?
I don't know much about the E150 Van,guessing they drive pretty much the same as a Pick Up?

It sucks slabbing back after a Rally.
Being able to smoke Cigars, drink hard liquor and push people off the Freeways would be good.

Maaaaaate, your starting to worry me.
Change the plan, not the transport!

Go for the van. Rental vans will do a wicked burnout.  Fumes aren't that bad, and you can secure your stuff.  An E350 van with the diesel might be fun.

F-150's have tie down points. Vans may not.

Check height in the van.  The FJ with a high screen won't fit in my van, though my RG500 did.  You could always take the screen or fairing off :-)

Caution with the pickup if you're putting one bike in facing rear.  The wind may just remove the fairing for you.  They're not designed to handle 85mph from the back.

BTW  Are you trying to become Yank?

Although things may change depending on just how draconian our new masters make things.

I suspevt the only van an FJ would fit is the Sprinter......

Uh, what sounds are you trying to muffle...?  And need to hose out after for that matter? Maybe less liquor would save the bother. You understand, we Tread Lightly in this country, waste not want not, reduce reuse recycle. Take a lesson from me, seven vehicles is excessive. But then I don't have a van, so it might be jealousy talkin'. Regarding junkyardroad's post, I have done a burnout in a van, and the fumes are excessive. Doing the burnout with the van works better long term. Maybe one o' them VW pop up camper vans to score with the eco conscious crowd.

Gotta open up the aperture a little!

How about a class C toy hauler?

A used "bread van"?  (Could even be painted up like an ice cream truck and put a clown and music on it too!)

Put a flat bed on the pickup - room for 2 bikes side by side.

Mount a 6x10 covered trailer box on the back of a long wheel base pickup chassis...Convert an old schoolbus...steal an ambulance and don't worry about speed limits!

Would never bring the FJ to such a injustice as to trasport it in a TIN top.. :diablo:

Richard,

We ride the FUCK out of our FJs.  I think you are missing the point.  Klavdy is saying that is fucking SUCKS spending a couple of days slab time riding our FJs to and from the WCR when the best ridding is up there on HWY 36.  We have been doing this for a long time.  We have ridden literally every conceivable way up to northern CA and back for the annual WCR and we are tired of it.  It sucks.  At least a solid full day and a half of it sucks....that is all.

Maybe you are one of these Iron Butt dudes?  How about you try riding your FJ about 2200 miles EACH WAY from California to the East Coast Spring Rally on Interstate.  We trailered - and that was still a nightmare after 4500 miles...

Zari

Shiit, Klavdy and Marsh.  You don't have to convince me, especially coming your distance.  I think we all proved time and time again considering our getting up in years, that we can be road rebels and let the wind take us 3000 miles on the two wheeled pleasure;  F%@k that!  Prove nothing to now one.  Ride in comfort and bring your goodies.  Cause we all know your coming to ride the beautful twisties when you arrive at your destination.  Hwy 20, Hwy 36 Hwy 1.... etc etc  et fing cetra.

Love the new Fords by the way.  Let me know what your choose!

By the way, more power to all you guy's on your long distance two wheeled travels, there is no denying it's quite a feet... GodSpeed gentleman.
