To some people, a 200 mile round trip just to go to a Bike Night meet for a couple of hours, might seem unusual, but when it includes a running and taxi-ing Lancaster bomber, a fantastic WW2 memorial museum, a De Havilland Mosquito and a B25 Mitchell, amongst many other exhibits, it's a bike meet not to be missed !

There are only 2 of these Bike Nights per year and I'd arranged for the VJMC to have a display area where our members bikes could be parked and displayed for all the other visitors. On both nights this year (11th June and 13th August), there were around 2,500 bikes turned up the event, which took place between 5pm and 8.30pm.

As well as the museum, the sound of 4 Rolls Royce Merlin V12's at full power, and the fantastic food stalls, the mix of bikes that turned up is always amazing.

This year, I led a group on each occasion from home in Rugby, to East Kirkby Airfield and back home, by the most scenic route, taking in as many twisty roads as possible. For the June ride, there were eventually 12 in our group (2 extra pick-up points) and for the August ride, there were 13 (one extra pick-up point).

We had a fantastic mix of bikes in our groups, mostly made up of Vintage Japanese Bikes (including a few FJ's, 1100 and 1200's, a FZR 1000 a GT 750 water buffalo, a Honda CBX, a SOHC CB750, a CX 500, CB 400F, Hawk GT 650, Kawasaki Z1000 and ZRX 1200, Honda CBR 600 and many more) but with a few modern beauties included too.

If anyone one here ever visits the UK, please make sure your trip dates can accommodate attending one of these Bike Night's - and let me know so that we can arrange a bike for you to use for this ride.

Here are a few photo's from the August Bike Night to give a flavour of the place and the event and our ride routes to and from it, as well as a link to a video made by one of our group from the June ride.

And just a few photo's from the June event.

Fortunately, we had perfect weather for both rides.
