G'day from WA , Australia :)

Just bought a FJ 1100 , Red ' n ' silver :)

The bloke I bought it off , imported it from the States , never registered it .

14,000 miles on the clock , all original , apart from mirrors and the only thing he replaced was the brakes and tyres :)

Previous owner mentioned to me that the Fuel Tank petcock might be an issue , when I took it for my first ride and when I pulled up , noticed a strong smell of fuel that overnight found a fuel leak under the bike .

So , ordered a fuel tank petcock from RPM and found a left intake silencer in Australia that's getting delivered too . Was missing this and luckily found a new genuine Yamaha one over finding one at a wreckers .

Had a red ' n ' white when this model turned 30 years , this bike however is way better , with no issues apart from the above .

She's registered now and once RPM deliver the part , can't wait to add a few more miles to her .

This site along with RPM should be all I need and was lucky enough to buy an original workshop manual off a Yamaha dealership in the states 10 years ago .

Didn't think I'd find an 84 again , now I have , know this one will be a keeper :)

Hi mate and yes! Will be reading a lot on here about the FJ . About to take my tank and fairing off , for the first time . Have a fuel problem , only bought the bike last month and previous owner mentioned the fuel petcock thingy . That's where I'm starting so next week , I'll be working on a bike that I reckon is no match , for age , for look , for how long you could sit on a and ride :)
Catchya ,
Ben

Welcome to the family Benny.

If there's fuel on the floor Nader the bike when it's been standing, it's likely that one or more of the float needles sticking open,  or there's some muck in between it and the seat, so it might be worth giving them a clean before you start to ride the ery much  :good2:
