FJ-Doug

Hi there,

I've been reading some posts here for the past few months now so I figured I'd take a momment to introduce myself.

My name is Doug and I'm the proud owner of 2 FJ's. I have an '85 FJ1100 that I've been riding for close to 10 years now and last fall I just purchased an '87 FJ1200. I was looking for something a little newer but when I came across the '87 and saw what kind of shape it was in, I couldn't pass it by. Besides, I thought the price wasn't too bad either at $2,200 CDN and 41,000 km's.

My plan now is to transfer some of the mod parts I had put on the '85 over to the '87 and sell the '85. Hopefully I can get $2,000 - $2,200 for it as it's still in really good shape and has under 52,000 km's. It does have something going on with really noisy valves but I'll ask about that in the mtce section.

I look forward to hearing from you in some of the other sections.

Cheers!

Doug

Welcome Doug! Another Doug here, for sure any issues you have can be resolved by the clever folks on this site. Does a second FJ satisfy the desire, or is it endless? I was thinking about getting another, but then that's twice as many mods... uh-oh.

Wow, thanks for all the warm welcomes  :bye:...It looks like I've found the right site for sure.

Yeh, having 2 FJ's is definately pretty cool but there's still a void to be filled. If I acquire the newer FJ1300, I'll have the complete set. But then again, I'd then want all the models in all the different colour schemes. I guess you're right... it is never ending! I better build an addition on the garage.

Cheers!

FJ-Doug,

While I can understand your goal... be aware that the FJR-1300 is a totally different bike.  Only the name, the clutch spring, and the manufacturer is the same.

Cheers,
Arnie

Hey doug,

Welcome !! Maybe we'll cross paths someday. I'm in the same boat...the plan is to sell the 1100. Easier said than done. They are just an awsome bike and fun to work on.  My wife is now saying "you're not going to sell that now are you!!!" I'm stripping it, cleaning, painting and fixing it, and then I will sell it....that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Yep.
Cheers!

Guilty as charged... I started the oil change on the 1100 last month in order to sell but just can't bring myself to complete it. This bike has been in my family longer than my son!

Maybe the wife will let me display it in the livingroom for sentimental sakes instead of selling it. I doubt it but I'm hanging on as long as I possibly can.
