Happy new year from Reno.
Yesterday all the heavy rain stopped and it was a great day for riding. Today we have over a foot of snow mid-day and it's supposed to snow all night. It should be a good water year for California and a beautiful spring riding season .

Happy New Year folks, snow coming in tomorrow from Travis's region, alas, no riding.
I think I'll take something apart and polish it, or go through my work area and find those missing 10mm sockets.

Cheers!

Happy new year guys!  I got the FJ out for a short, chilly ride.  Likely to be the last of the year, although we have over 2 hours left.  It's a bit rainy/snowy and dark though.

We also flew 2.4 hours today.  The kid is doing well on takeoffs and the pattern, and has pulled off at least one landing without assistance.

Happy New Year guys.........we had a nice day here today so I was going to get on two wheels one way or another. My hangover (from last night's "celebrations") dictated that it rode my mountain bike and stuck to pedal power rather than FJ power.

Today, I can tell you that I am living (almost) proof that a full English Breakfast and a 20 mile mountain bike ride, are NOT a hangover cure  :sarcastic: :sarcastic:

Tomorrow, I'm hopefully out for a ride with a few pals, this time I will be motorcycle-mounted  :good2:

First motorcycle ride of the year yesterday with a few pals. Took the scenic/twisty route down to the "Super Sausage Cafe" and came back along the "Old Roman Road", the A5 Watling Street.

Unfortunately I was on the Fazer 1000 (FZ1), just wanted to give it a proper run out as it hasn't had one for quite a while (whereas the FJ gets used all the time). Very happy with the way it ran.

It was bit chilly (under 40F) and the roads were soaking wet to start with, but the sun was shining and things dried up as we got to the Cafe for a late breakfast sandwich.

All in all, a great start to my biking year - today it has rained non-stop !!!!

I finally got my first ride of the year Friday the 27th.
The snow storm that started on new years eve kept snowing hard all day and through the night. By morning we had 2 1/2 feet on the ground.

I started digging out the bikes and shoveling new years day . It took me two days to dig out to the end of the property but there was 1/4 mile of unplowed steep dirt road between me and pavement.
A week later another warmer storm that dropped a couple inches of rain came through and melted most of the snow left on the dirt road. Two days later before the roads could dry out  another foot of snow fell followed by weeks of high temperatures below or barely above freezing and nights dipping into the low teens.
A week ago the ice on the dirt road began to melt off and my driveway was muddy but almost clear.

I finally was able to get the bike out Friday afternoon. I rode up to the foothills of the Sierra's. The roads started getting a little iffy just below 6,000 ft so I rode up to the summit of hwy 341over the Virginia range.
I try to ride my bikes at least once a week during winter but this season has been spectacular. The ski resort on mount Rose has already had 28 ft of snow so far.

That is awesome. We got 6" of snow and I'm cowering inside. Spring will come.
