Rear Caliper rebuild suggestions

Nearly everything on my bike is new or rebuilt
After installing my 18" rear FZR1000 rim and having the rear brake caliper carrier machined i found my outside pad dragging
I have to rebuild the caliper soon
Who offers the parts and should I replace only the seals or the piston also

Seals and a clean up and flush should do the trick.  For me, I'd skip the parts, clean flush the master and just disassemble, clean the caliper bores & pistons then reassemble.

Are you absolutely sure the parts were machined to the correct dimensions?

For the FJ caliper, I have the rebuild kit in stock for $28.89 and can get the pistons overnight if needed. You will not know if you need pistons until you disassemble and inspect them.

Are we ever sure of anything in life?
I can't say it was or it was not.
The guy that did it was a person I know here in CT.
The after thickness was checked against the before dimensions and it showed he did remove the required 7mm.
If he removed to much from one side and to little from the other I can't say
I'm only seeing a 1-2mm offset which I have to be concerned with.
I'll disassemble and rebuild. If it needs new pistons then I'll have to buy those too.

When I did the same mod a few years back, using the dimensions in the British FJ mods site (I found a pdf of the instructions and followed it).
I found that the calliper was no longer centered over the disc....it was about 1mm to far inboard...... added a washer between the rh wheel spacer and the calliper bracket....... problem solved.
I'm not able to say if this was just my setup/machining as that wheel is now on Ned's bike in NZ.

Are you there Ned?.... how did the line up go on your bike?

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.

Exactly... so if the caliper isn't centered on the disc, rebuilding it probably won't help, and probably wasn't needed to begin with.     :dash1:
