Happy Saturday gents.
Although I think our bikes are beautiful, there are some things that jag on me. Mile long rear turn signals for one.
I was fixing to order after market when I had an idea.

I retrofitted the factory ones.

Hard to see what they look like in the pictures.
I see you live in Wisconsin. You should get a collector plate. You'll never have to renew it again. Except you can't ride it in January.

At least you had something to do on Saturday  :i_am_so_happy:
Can't quite tell but did you just cut down the stalks ?

Yes, agree. I don't know why the pics turned out that way.
I actually deleted the stalks. Had to remove the hollow threaded rod, turned it the other way and used the mushroomed end as a stop. Reused the nut. Now only the housing itself is used. I wish when I upload it wouldn't stretch out like that but take my word for it. It looks much better. Have some CBR600RR mirrors on order and a nee petcock from RPM so now I can get rid of the manual shutoff I had to install.

I think the problem with your pictures happens when you post pictures that have been taken with your phone in the vertical position. Next time hold your phone sideways when taking a picture to be posted .

If you click on the file ID at the bottom left of the photo Dan, it opens the picture up in proper proportions making everything clearly visible. A bit of a faff, but worthwhile  :good2:

Another option: right click and open image in a new tab works well for me.

Dan, I forget why I didn't get collector plates myself.  I'll definitely be looking into it in 2024 when registration is due next.

While on the topic; anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket turn signals?  My bike came with aftermarket installed, so no factory set to modify.  I have some from cycle gear but the stalks have broke twice now and I'd rather not buy another set of the same if they break again.

Probably NOT the best for visibility - but is used a trailer light converter many years ago to combine the brake lights and turn signals into the tail light only.

Just my personal opinion Chris, but that is a very dangerous thing to do (and it's illegal here).

To have the turn signals basically on the centreline of the bike and part of the brake light cluster (on a bike), gives the following idiots behind you in cars/trucks no idea of your actual turning intentions. It's asking to be rammed by an overtaking vehicle when you brake and indicate to turn left at the same time - the following driver doesn't identify your turning intention and then decides to take overtake because you're going slowly and you're going off no "clear" signal.

It's bad enough with our stock indicators and the driving abilities of most drivers. I'd want to make my turn signals as noticeable and "clear" as possible to drivers around me (at least having them off to the side of the bikes cent line enough to make my ntentions obvious).

I agree entirely. I know folks get enjoyment from their bikes for all sorts of reasons but when form compromises function on safety items it's wrong. I'm sure everyone here agrees the greatest risk we run as motorcyclists is not being seen by other road users. To intentionally make yourself even less visible to them I just don't understand. There was a light doing the rounds here a few years back that not only incorporated the indicators into the tail light but was smoked as well!

I agree 100% that the rear turn signal stalks are way to long. I took a different route with the use of a set of front signals mounted to the rear.
