Two days at the end of June

 Ian and I took the Friday and Saturday off for a ride the last week of June. We took I-80 out of Reno up to hwy 89 and on to Quincy then up to bucks lake where we had a room at the timberline reserved. When we arrived at the lodge we were meet by about 60 Harley's that were stopping for a planned BBQ. We were invited to have lunch but at 34 dollars a plate for mostly pork we declined. After dropping the saddle bags off at the timberline we road back to Quincy for lunch .

After lunch we went back down 89 to Quincy Laporte road. We had planned to ride down La porte Rd then over to hwy 70 through the feather river canyon  back to Quincy but 70 was closed due to mud slides from the storms the day before. Instead we rode Laporte Rd both directions as well as several paved logging roads that branch off of it.
We did a lot of sliding through corners from storm debris but the weather and scenery was very nice. The areas that burned two years ago were recovering well though tall trees will take time. The vast majority of the area is unburned.

We got back to the inn just after sunset. There was one other guest there.

The next day we packed up and drove back down 89 to the junction with hwy 49.

We checked out several scenic areas along 49 .

Traffic was very light most of our trip including hwy 49 .

After reaching the high altitude section of 49 we began descending on our way to meet up with hwy 20.

The section of 49 dropping down the canyon to Downieville is nice and twisty. You don't want to get caught speeding in downtown Downieville, the penalty can be quite harsh.

Finally we continued down 49 and met up with hwy 20. From there we drove up to join hwy 80 to ride on to Truckee . We stopped along the way and saw the thunderclouds building between us and Truckee . Hoping we could outrun the storm we hit the road hard . We met the storm about twenty miles before Donner summit and rode through heavy rain and lightening to Truckee.
  The rain turned to light drizzle in Truckee where we took hwy 267 to lake Tahoe and around north shore on 28 to the Mt rose hwy over the summit and back down home. We ranged in altitude from 2,477 ft to 8,911ft , a difference of 6,434 ft .

Great trip thanks for sharing the picks looks much like here in Norway up there and that tip about speeding in downtown Downieville that is harsh to get hung for speeding .
