Thought some of you may find this funny...

"Some tool on a BMW k1200 "
It's funny to see how uneducated someone can be about something they buy.

That was pretty funny.  Poor Hardlys.  Overpriced POS.

Me and two of my friends went riding a couple weeks ago.  One has a Versys, and the other had a Hardly (I call them Hardlys because they "hardly" keep up).  For something different, we all switched bikes for a couple of miles.  I was stuck on the Hardly.  After only a few miles, I pulled over and had to switch back.  Riding the Hardly shook me to more than I could stand.  Plus, I could not go over 75 mph without it wanting to walk off the road.  Not to mention that the shiny things they call mirrors were totally useless at supersonic vibration rates.  Sad.  :empathy3:  Just sad.  The bike was only one year old and maintained in top condition, so it can't be said that is was in poor condition or too old to ride.
Do not argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

ITS A 1450cc AND ITS REAL POWERFUL... YOU DONT KNOW NUTHIN BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE ANY TORQUES!

Even more fun is comparing the thrust at the wheel between a twin and a four, after compensating for gearing so they both have the same length in their gearing (i.e., first goes 40mph at redline).. then their "massive" torque is even more hilarious.  Apparently having no puff after 3k means that it's torquey... sadly, it has no oomph down low either :P

Mind you, some of the 100hp/100tq motors do pretty well for what they are... but the best are the guys who actually build race motors from harley origins.. turbocharged 600hp machines that owe more to japan than to the US :P

Phil irving ( vincent motor cylce engineer) wrote a book on ... well ... motorcycle engineering... good read.... doesnt mention harleys, ( well he does , one paragraph refering to them but basically pointing out that they arent realllllly motorcycles...). sigh. primitive technology, cant turn corners over priced boat anchors....( i believ that most of the riders fall into 2 categories.... spectacular tattooed f**kwits or showponies)... pardon my ignorance??? but its got a cast iron motor that wants to fught itself every stroke, oversized over wieght and well overpriced. and the ute to follow them is expensive. I HATE HARLEY RIDERS HARLEYS AND ANYTHING TO DO WITH H FREAKIN D. its all image. do you get free tough stickers when you buy one? and what was that about loud pipes and small appendages?
nuff said.      :ireful: :ireful: :ireful: :ireful: :ireful: :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:

Phil Irving is a motorcycle god.  I have a copy of his "Tuning for Speed" and even after all these years the information is still useful.  Back when engine design was not a corporate team affair, his work shone like a beacon in the darkness of other english engine designs.

About HD.....
Wow!  Tell us how you really feel. :-)  What happened? Did your mother get scared when an open piped noise-maker went by?  Don't you think you're just a little over the top with your diatribe?
They're not my favorite bike, in fact they are a ways down below on any list I'd make, but I'd rather NOT get neutered, and given no other choice, I'd ride a Harley (with a trailer full of tools and spares)

A friend and fellow firefighter who rides a HD, told me the best reason to ride a Harley is that they don't tempt you to ride fast enough to lose your license. :-)  That happens at only 25kph over here in VIC.

Cheers,
Arnie

Nice, That has to be the best reason Ive ever heard to choose a HD over any other reasonably price bike
