Had long talk with a man recently about FJ's he had some interesting tips like "remove stock 84 indicators as they block air entering the scoops and use individual foam filters inside original air box and have the gas line run through there with a filter inline" Most interesting one though was that the second gear was lost because of a spun bearing when shifting to second under hard acceleration and going not far enough because of the long throw and not engaging  between 1 and two so the revs go way to high causing the 2nd gear to malfunction going forward. Any opinions?

Chiz,

The turn signal indicators may be blocking cool air a bit, so relocating them may be a good idea.  Not sure how you could show any great improvement, though.
If you have a remote handheld thermometer gun to check header temps, then individual foam filters might be good, too.
If you install a fuel filter, you will probably need a fuel pump as well, because gravity-feed will not work very well into a filter, without a fuel pump.
If the gear dogs are undercut, I would expect them to engage nicely, even under hard acceleration.  My tranny gears are undercut (from the PO) and I have never had any problem.  The point may be valid if the rider routinely shifts hard without using the clutch, but in normal use, undercut gears do the job.
All IMHO, of course.
Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
