Oil level light flashing after oil change

Morning All!  strange one really, did an oil and filter change yesterday, genuine Yamaha filter and trying Rotella T4 15w40 for the first time drained as usual, left it draining for 30 mins after a thorough warm up, refill with 3.35L (3.5Q) of T4 oil was slightly above the high mark on the sight window.

Started and let it tick over for a while to warm the oil and do a level check which put it halfway between the level markers after 5 mins to settle after the warm up, so topped up a little to bring the level up to the top mark and went out for a ride, air temps here in Akron where around 86f yesterday if that has any bearing, I have a nice little route that I follow where there's a long straight after a fabulous right hander so I gave FuJi a full throttle burst in 2nd and 3rd gear as the revs rose above 6k the oil level light came on, I shut the throttle and it immediately went out, so I stopped, switched of and put it on the centre stand and left it for five minutes for the oil to settle, and it was right at the top mark. I then repeated the exercise with the same results.

Came home stuck the bike in the garage and checked the oil level this morning and it's slightly above the top level.

Any ideas?

 Nothing to worry about. Happens quite often. Keep your oil level at the top mark and you're good to go...

Rob,

I see the oil level light at times, too, usually under hard acceleration and/or going uphill.  The oil level sensor is up front; the oil all went to the rear of the case briefly.
Don't know if the engine (oil pump) actually starves for oil then, without an oil pressure gauge.  Somebody with a gauge installed would be welcome to chime in, here.
FWIW, the synthetic oils are touted to keep the metal protected longer in such times, but I do not want to start an oil debate here, just sayin'.

Get over 150 RWHP and that oil light will stay on through first, second and third gear. Like that pic of Mike Baldwin Rob......met him at Loudon, NH years ago and he was a great fella to speak with.

I just changed mine for the first time.
The drain plug does not have any type pf gasket/washer on it?

It would really help us to help you if you listed the year and model of your FJ in your signature, or with your avatar.

For a '92 (just guessing), the parts fiche shows a plug and an O-ring.  The O-ring would be in a recess in the case, not on the plug itself.
O-rings are standard stock items.

You can get 14mm crush washers by the bag from the auto parts places, for various import cars.
You can also use the right size of Dowty washer there.

Be careful about overfilling the bike.  I'm not sure how close the top mark is to the rotating parts.....
