A local Motorcycle-Rider extended an invitation to his residence in Colorado Springs for a "Cookout", to anyone who may be sticking around after our riding or if anyone is staying in CO-Springs on Saturday night.
He is a good friend of Fred.
If anyone would like to take part Saturday evening, please let Fred know or post up on here that you'd like to attend.  :drinks:

My friend is a Honda guy that has some exquisite Resto-Mod 1980's Hondas. Here are 2 photos of his 1000's.

WHEN I get to visit, I'd love to meet up with Thomas and see his bikes in the flesh. This has given me the impetus to get back on with my VF restomod :good2:

Hey, has anyone else made it to Colorado Springs yet? Kris and I are in the Lone Duck Campground, off 24, just north of the Pikes Peak entrance.

What is the meet-up time at Rudy's BBQ?

Kurt and I are in Colorado Springs as we speak. Scroll up on this page. Alan has posted a meet time of 10:00am at the entry gate parking lot. With a late lunch stop at Rudy's for BBQ after we get to the bottom of the mountain

Fred, thanks for the update. I missed those posts, trying to read all of this on my phone is not as easy as my desktop with the 24" monitor, eh? See you all at 10 am Sat.

Lunch afterwards and the "cookout" in the evening sounds good too, count us in.

Pat, it was a good ride. When we got to the entryway they told us that it was closed at the 13 mile mark due to snow at the top. We rode up theought the clouds, stopping at the Crystal Reservoir visitor center for some pics.

... So after the group bike shots at the res. we continued through the clouds towards the top. The road did get fairly wet as we got further up and we did get past the 13 mile mark to the Devil's Playground pull off where rangers were stopping everyone. So we took more pics an then headed back down. After exiting the park we headed to Rudy's BBQ for lunch. Excellent moist brisket! . . .

... then Fred arranged for us to have dinner at this guy Tom's house. Tom is into early model Honda VFs kinda like our group with FJs.  :yahoo: So he and his girlfriend made us a nice dinner while he showed us some spectacular examples of Honda VF1000Fs he's "fixed up", he's got a serious case of moditus by the way. He's got several VFs including a VF400, which I don't think was ever released in the U.S. Then I saw in his garage a 1988 Hawk GT. I had one before getting my FJ. I had fixed it up from a total wreck to near new.  It was a great little bike. I reluctantly had to trade it in in order to get my FJ. Then Tom mentions he wants to sell it. We negotiated a price, with Kurt's help. So for the 2nd time this year and 3rd time in 3 years I have gone to an FJ gathering an left with an extra bike.

Very nice.  When I was looking to buy a new bike in '89, it was between the Hawk and the FJ.

Was great to be along for this event...I was the one *without* a bike, but enjoyed it all!   It gave me a chance to get some shots of the bikes and riders on a few of the corners.  Thanks to THIS guy for putting this event together...

Cap'n Ron. . .

Thanks for the update fellas. We are having an unusually wet monsoon season here in Arizona. I wondered how all the spin off moisture would affect the mountains in Colorado....snow in August eh?
I guess the rule book gets tossed at elevations above 9k
